Legend X and Legend X SE comparisons:

A few weeks ago this thread was talking about the LX OG compared to the LXSE. I sold my OG in preparation of getting an LXSE at some point. I was able to get one directly through Crystal Sound Audio (the only ones that sell the LXSE new) via a friend in Australia. I thoroughly enjoy the SE and it of course shares a lot with the OG but it is not the OG. Well zufaelligerweise, I was able to buy back the OG I sold in October. So now I can compare directly the two of them.
I used the same cable with both since I have two Loki + cables. OG and LX do respond well to different cables. I used the same tips with both; the Sedna EarFit tips. I used an N6ii DAP with T01 module with both.
Here is what I hear as the difference which will include my theory of what they did to the OG to make an SE: There is an obvious tilting of sound with an apex somewhere along the frequency. Those that have the OG know it is L shaped. Amazing bass with amazing lower mids with the rest of the frequency trailing gently off with less emphasis. The SE on the other hand has a balanced W shape. Everything is accentuated and thick and nothing stands out above the rest (well maybe the double DD drivers do a bit).
The OG is obviously bass focused. But as important is how special the instruments and vocals come across in the lower mid range. Male vocals shine with the OG. On the other hand with the SE the male vocals are excellent but a little less pronounced than the OG. The inverse happens with female vocals. More forward with SE than with OG.
Some of you know where I am going with this concerning my theory of how they changed the SE. To me when A/Bing them back to back the actual apex is the upper mid range. That is where the change happens which affects everything around it. They tuned the upper mids differently. That is why the treble seems to be more with the SE and that is why the bass seems like more on the OG. Upon a very close listen with bass focused and treble focused music the overall treble and overall bass of the SE and OG are the same. But when listening to more complex music it appears that the bass and treble are different due to the lift of the upper mids of the SE.
They physical shape of the two is the same. From what I can tell the layout from within is the same. We do know that EA wiring was used for the SE which may be doing something or not.
These two IEMs come across not as one being an improvement over the other. They come across as two different sounding IEMs both with unbelievable texture, layering and technicality of sound. Something of a wonderment for such a hybrid with "bass" focus. There is a lot more going on with both than just the bass. A lot more.

I
Thanks.
Seeing all the Legend X posts I thought I'd ask my question. I purchased the universal version 3 months ago, and now one of the Final Audio tips won't say on the iems. It's stretched too much to stay. So, 1. Is three months a normal amount of time for this to happen? and 2. will they "shrink back" after not being used for a while?LX SE hype train incoming.
Now I really want to hear them.
Thanks.
I noticed that as well with the Empire universals when tip swapping both old and new shells, probably because of the lack of a full on lip and the lacquer . Usually I put it on and leave it overnight and it's back to normal the next morning.I

The exact difference of the SE compared to the OG Legend X is:
1.) Leaner, tighter bass.
2.) Slightly more treble.
3.) About a 3-4db boost in the mids.

To be fair my local dealer told me that I probably wouldn't like Odin because it had dual DDs like the LX.
Odin and LX SE are massively different. They are both amazing IMHO. They do have two DD drivers and BA midsThat sounds suspiciously like Odin,

Your local dealer just might be crazy. Nothing alike despite dual DD.That sounds suspiciously like Odin,
