Finally got my Annihilator ordered today and should be here tomorrow. Wondering if I'm a bit handicapped with my sources outside of desktop
Desktop - Wa7 Fireflies - A90 + E70V
Mobile - Hiby R5 Gen 2, ifi blu
0 shot I'm going to be grabbing anything like a Shanling M9 but my question is, will I have issues with the Annihilator and what I have and what are some decent upgrade options if I need to that won't break the bank?

Slightly different question but can anyone confirm that Elysian has been demoing the Annihilator with the Astell&Kern SP2000T? They‘ve had this DAP in the photo on hand at several CanJams and I believe it’s the SP2000T.

@galthepal I wouldn’t say handicapped but the Annihilator likes her power. Youll be able to tell quickly jumping between your wa7 and Hiby. Not sure you budget but a portable amp is always a possibility. You can pick up a C9 used for a good price. Does the R5 II have a dedicated line out?

@galthepal ok, ya. Somewhere in your settings you should be able to switch your ports to line out. So an amp is a possibility. I’d still recommend checking the scaling difference between your desktop first!
For sure. If I notice a difference I'll take a look at the C9 you mentioned, saw they're going in the classifieds for around 1k

Awesome, I like some of the A&K models I've seen. Saw idesign mention above the Astell&Kern SP2000T which headphones.com has an open box of for $1,700.

Yeah, I’m considering R8 II as my next DAP as well.
I’ve got a loaner R6 P2 on loan, listening to Anni with it just now and it’s pretty great, not so far off my desktop rig really. So depending on your budget that could be another option.
Hmm, I love the sound from the iBasso Elite, having demoed the dx320 max ti at Zeppelin, I can hear most of the qualities/traits from the dx320 max in the dc elite. Super clean sounding but yet having fullness to the sound. Having owned a Fiio BTR7 before, I would say that it is no where close to the DC Elite, sounds low res in comparison while using the Anni 23. Even compared with my AK SE180 dap with the sem 3 module (quad ESS9038Q2M), the sound from the DC elite sounds more refined and slightly wider sounding. The DC elite is also able to power the Anni 23 with ease at about 7-9 steps of volume and source maxed/fixed out. I just find that the DC elite is quite sizable but yet smaller than the BTR7 and drains my phone/dap battery quite fast. But overall, am satisfied with it despite of the premium price tag (for a dongle) haha

Divinus Velvet arrived today. I made a comparison with my favorites AZLA SednaEarfitLight Short. I tried many tips before but Azla was the best. Crystal and Spiral Dot were also very good. Velvet is bassier, it expands the stage a bit. The sound is more bombastic. But it is a little at the expense of the purity of the treble and their extension. Also, the sound is less relaxing. Actually, it's a bit against tuning Anni. Azla is much better for my library (metal, punk rock). But I can imagine that Velvet could be very good for someone. It is also possible that DAP can make a difference. Anyway, the Velvets are very comfortable.
