My Powerman / Formula S / Sagre switched off today, have any of you found this to happen? What I am thinking is that the temperatures in my office are around 30 degrees, today, and I also had the units stacked, and I am assuming that a thermal shutdown kicked in. I have since placed them beside each other, and have had no issues since.
Is there sufficient ventilation around the units when stacked or not ? I also have mine (Formula S+Powerman) stacked at around 28-29 degrees ambient temperature and haven't noticed any thermal shutdown however there is ample ventilation from back , top and sides .
Mine is not best placed in that respect, they are on a shelving unit and I can get away with about 4 inches of rear clearance, unless I overhang the shelf. The units do get toasty, which I imagine is quite normal for these, but when it switched off it was stacked together and close to a wall also on one side so maybe not ventilated well enough.

No they do not get toasty , i haven't seen the top surface being more than around 40 degrees Cels. I can indefinitely leave my hand on the Formula S without any feeling of discomfort . It is pretty obvious to me that ventilation was your problem .
I would like to report that sticking some WA Quantum chips mainly on the transformer and capacitors of Powerman and main unit resulted in a marked increase of resolution , transparency and air. You may try it for a total cost of around 100Euro.
I might be downsizing so have my Formula S / Powerman / Sagre for sale HERE for anyone interested PM me. That said, there is every chance I stick with this as I am not sure how I could get something that surpasses it. Its no reflection on the kit itself its just a lot of money I have tied up in my headphone setup I could use for other things atm.

For diana tc is really hard to find better amp pairing than FS/P. Unless go for something custom build that need months to order, or to something much more expensive.

Agreed, and if the stack does go I expect the TC would follow. I would probably downsize to something like a Fostex TH900MK2 & IFI Diablo, I recall enjoying that combo.
I have mixed thoughts myself on the courtesy cable debate. I do feel it would be nice if they gave a courtesy one, but at same time I do feel they may "upcharge us" for it so it sometimes feels better that they NOT include one so no chance of that baked in upcharge in the final price.
I do have to agree that the Formula S does seem a little underwhelming visually and build wise/feature wise for it's price point. With that said though, I do absolutely love mine and enjoy mine thoroughly. I was also the lucky guy who decided to buy the powerman/formula S literally within 2 weeks of them raising the price. =(
Sometimes we have to make these "trade offs" and decides ourselves if a certain product it worth it to ourselves. =)
Personally I think this is the best looking stack on the market for headphones. This design language is right up my street. Not surprising for me as I absolutely adore Naim boxes. Also the build quality is very good. So personally I’m not underwhelmed by the aesthetics of the devices, I just wish the units came with better packaging.

Hi, may I ask how you performed this modification please? I suspect it voids any warranty repair right?
Also I’ve recently purchased XI Audio stack and I understand from this thread that the Sagra DAC produces a higher power signal from its balanced out connection therefore it would be best to use a Xlr to RCA (unbalanced) cable to connect to my single ended Formula S- is this correct?

Hello. Basically i can not call this a "modification". You just put some stickers which can be removed anytime on top of the components. I don't think this voids any warranty.
just set up the XI AUDIO stack. I’m very impressed with the build quality of these units. Too early to offer sound impressions as the units have been sitting in boxes for weeks.
