Effect Audio cables thread

I’m thinking about getting a Fusion 1 but wanted to check something. On Musicteck’s website it says you can choose the Default ConX set (2pin MMCX Pentaconn Ear). Is Pentaconn Ear the connector that the Elysian IEMs use? If so I didn’t think that was in the basic set.

I am loving my Ares S II, particularly with the Monarch Mk.III. Big Copper and the King make beautiful music!

I received a prototype Ares S II(pure copper) for review, which contained the same wire cores as the final retail model, only with different hardware/aesthetics(ie different cable color and y-splitter).

I hooked this Ares S II to my monarch mkIII, and the overall sound quality was an immediately noticeable difference even though I was replacing another EA upgrade cable, the Eros S 1AE(silver copper hybrid).

Right away I noticed greatly increased warmth, with improved slam and rumble in the bass, a signature nature of high end pure cooper. EA used a dual core design here, with one solid cooper core and one multi-layer core using a range of wire diameters. Having used many entry and mid-tier copper cables, the solid core seems to be adding to the truly lush and enveloping bass rumble in the Ares SII. The only trade-off is minor ergonomics, a barely noticeable derease in the flexibility. While I personally will trade ergonomics for acoustic quality all day, this cable is still quite lightweight, flexible and easy to handle.

After some extended critical listening with the new Ares SII, I noticed the increased smoothness and warmth in vocals, especially pleasant in female vocals. Boosting the overall musicality and immersion in artists like Billie Eilish and Patti Smith, I found my hankering for a basshead experience quite well satisfied.

I've been very happy with my monarch mkIII for the past year, as I am naturally a very analytical listener, focused on speed, attack and decay, the most fundamental technical qualities of music which the monarch delivered and was very much boosted with Eros S1AE. But recently I've been craving a basshead experience, specifically to be overwhelmed by the power of music rather than to be lost in a maze of technical intricacy. To be able to achieve this with a simple cable roll, and without having to compromise the fundamental quality or the large expense of new side-grade transducers, is the wonder and scientific marvel of the audiophile experience that continues to amaze me.

Ares SII is a high-quality Cooper cable with an interesting aspect of using 4 wires of thin strands of Cooper and 4 wires with thicker strands. Affect Audio went that route with the original Ares II and worked well.

After extended listening I found the sound quality with Ares SII sound signature impressed me more than I remembered with the Ares II. Effect Audio did an excellent job of improving the Ares line.

The bass presence has a great amount of body and details without sounding muddy, it added to the warmth of copper without becoming bloated or bassy. With iem’s that have a weak bass, this cable would help improve it.

Moving into the midrange the sound has opened up producing a smooth sturdy sound that adds to the musical enjoyment well using this cable.

With the upper end, there’s a slight roll-off that is normal with a copper cable. Ares SII retains nice details it’s slightly more laid back and mellow. It’s a cable you can listen to for hours without fatigue.

Ares SII has nice depth with great imagining. The soundstage is spacious which gives the music an almost holographic 3D effect.

Ares SII would be a good stock replacement cable for iem’s, it comes down to the signature of iem.

If there is more of a bright-sounding iem then ARES SII would be a good choice. If there is more warmth something like the Cadmus SII might be worth waiting for. These are only rough guidelines things like personal hearing range, sound preference, and other gear will play into this.

If planning on using a multiple of iem having a good solid Cooper cable can’t be beat. For the price, you are getting a great-sounding cable.

My feeling is these cables would be the perfect replacement for many stock cables. Their quality and sound would scale up nicely with better iem’s.

Testing was done using a WiiM media server a Ares II DAC to a Music Paradise pre-amp then Wells Audio Dragon tube amp using the Mest Indigo iem.

Simeone comprare Cleopatra II 4 wires vs 8 wires?
Hello... 8W gave a wider soundstage and extension, together with improving technicalities and details. It's worthy upgrade that I ended up doing myself. If you don't mind the extra thickness.

Effect Audio Signature Series 2
(Ares S II, Cadmus S II and Eros S II)

Disclaimer:
I’d like to thank Audio Geek for including me in the Effect Audio Signature Series 2 prototype tour. The cables shared were prototypes and as per my understanding, they could undergo some aesthetic changes before they’re launched for retail sales.

Introduction:
Effect Audio as such needs no introduction, the brand is well established in the audiophile space and I’m personally a huge fan of their cables. Their Fusion 1 and EVO10 are two of my favourite cables. Hence, I was naturally excited to try out their upcoming signature series 2 cables.

What’s new in Signature Series 2:
Firstly, all the Signature Series 2 (SS2 henceforth) will have ConX connectors by default, making them versatile. The SS2 cables will all be 8-wire by default compared to the 4-wire configuration of the previous generation.

The next big change is the implementation of the Solid Core technology from the CODE series of cables. As such, the SS2 cables are designed with focus on improving conductivity and internal geometry of the cable. However, by including the Solid Core tech, the cables offer better resistance to both vibration and corrosion (as per Effect Audio). The trickle down effect of this tech from the Code series to the SS2 makes premium sound more affordable.

Sound Impressions:

Ares S II

Tech Specs:

26AWG 8 Wires
Smelting Process: UP-OCC
Material & Structure: Single Material Litz
Copper with Central Solid Core
Dual Variant QuantumCopper™
Casing: EA Ultra Flexi™ Insulation
Length: 120cm ± 5cm
Connection System:
- ConX ®️2-pin (Default)
- EA Standard Rhodium Plated Brass Straight Type

The Ares S is known to be warm and the Ares S II retains the same warmth while improving on the vocals and enhancing bass response. Ares S II features what Effect Audio calls Dual Variant QuantumCopper, that essentially uses two distinct types of high purity copper. I tried the Ares S II with Kinera Verdandi and the bass response was excellent. The bass hit deep with excellent rumble. I also felt that the mids sounded more natural and smooth. Vocals sounded divine thanks to the added warmth making the set sounding more analogue.

Cadmus S II:

Tech Specs:

26AWG 8 Wires
Smelting Process: UP-OCC
Material & Structure: Single Material Litz
Silver-Plated Copper with Central Solid Core
Designed with 6 Multi-sized Core Bundles
Casing: EA Ultra Flexi™ Insulation
Length: 120cm ± 5cm
Connection System:
- ConX ®️2-pin (Default)
- EA Standard Rhodium Plated Brass Straight Type

Just like the original Cadmus S, the Cadmus S II provides a wide soundstage. On the Verdandi too, the Cadmus provided more detail and enhanced the soundstage and separation. Given the excellent resolution of the Verdandi, the Cadmus S II made it sound open and detailed, giving it a grand feel.

Eros S II:

Tech Specs:

26AWG 8 Wires
Smelting Process: UP-OCC
Material & Structure: Multi Material Litz
Silver and Copper Alloy / Pure Silver / Pure Copper Hybrid
Silver Central Solid Core
Designed with 6 Multi-sized Core Bundles
Tri-Element synCompound (TESC™)
Casing: EA Ultra Flexi™ Insulation
Length: 120cm ± 5cm
Connection System:
- ConX ®️2-pin (Default)
- EA Standard Rhodium Plated Brass Straight Type
The Eros S II was easily the best of the lot as it seemed to combine the effects of both Ares and Cadmus and deliver a lush and open sounding experience. The bass hit deep with excellent rumble, while the mids sounded natural and buttery smooth. The highs were crisp and there was a noticeable enhancement in terms of staging and separation. As mentioned earlier, the Eros S II seemed to combine the effects of the previous 2 cables and provide one grand and immersive listening experience that honestly elevated the IEM to another level.

1000091314.jpg

Eros S II features what Effect Audio calls Tri Element SynCompound that combines 3 materials to deliver exceptional sound quality. As per Effect Audio, Pure Copper provides a strong foundation with powerful, resonant bass and rich tonality, while Pure Silver Solid Core delivers unmatched clarity and precision. The precise ratio of silver-copper alloy is specially engineered to elevate the sound with nuance and distinctive character.

Conclusion:
The SS2 cables are clear upgrades over the previous generation of Signature Series cables, The Eros S II is easily my favourite and I’m definitely looking forward to buy one in the near future.

Hello Again,

one last impression from the Ares S II before shipping it over to the next review group. This will be part of a fuller impressions on Canpur CP54E.

1727004814975.jpeg

The Canpur CP54E IEMs offer a well-rounded performance with excellent detail and clarity across the frequency range. However, the timbre and tonality in the upper mids can sometimes feel slightly off, giving vocals and certain instruments a more artificial edge. This is especially noticeable when compared to something like the 64 Audio 12t, which has a more natural tonal balance in those areas.

When paired with the stock cable, the CP54E does well in terms of BA bass response and treble clarity but lacks that final touch of smoothness in the mids. Swapping in a copper cable like the Effect Audio Ares S II significantly improves this. The Ares S II brings warmth and smoothness, taming that slightly off timbre and delivering a more natural, cohesive sound. The copper cable’s inherent ability to add richness to the midrange helps bring the timbre closer to what you'd expect from a high-end IEM. I didn't get the same from the stock SPC cable or other SPC cables I have around.

Basically, the Ares S II helps refine the CP54E’s presentation bringing it back in place for its price range, balancing out the upper midrange while preserving the IEM’s strengths in soundstage. This pairing strikes a good balance between clarity and smoothness, making it an easy and cheap upgrade if you're looking to address that upper-mid timbre issue.
