That does look quite ergonomic. Without the stupid memory wire it would be even better, but that flaw is easily fixed.

Someone in the Unique Melody thread got them reshelled and upgraded to 6 drivers.

This is perfect. It looks like the UM3X but with the SM3 sound. A definite purchase.

can't see whether it's flush or recessed socket lol... Hopefully the new 'not covered by warranty' problem won't be breaking off the cable pins

If you zoom in a lot on the photo in this link you can tell that they're recessed.
 
I hope this makes the SM3 v1's go down in price, I'd still be happy with a pair of those =)

The SM3 v1 are very well priced already. I wonder if Earsonics will update their custom iem line-up as well. But that new v2 SM3 looks really sexy. Clip+ and SM3v2 (portable bliss).
