"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

Received my SW III's from HCK today, at last.

OOTB they sound rather sibilant and bright to my ears, with plenty of deep bass... but I understand these are supposed to require many hours of break-in so I'll start by running them overnight and seeing if there's any smoothing out tomorrow. This is with the standard, installed tips, by the way.

350 hours of break-in? Really??

Cheers.

Finding the best tips for the SW3 that suit you, will bring about the biggest difference. Burning-in brought about 5-10% difference for me, but YMMV of course.

I will try the included foam tips. Also, I have heard that wide bore tips tend to reduce sibilance. I have some Spiral Dots and Auvio's lying around and I'll try them as well.
Thanks!

These ones work really well for me - i find the regular ones make the sound a little too 'busy'  :)

I've been using wide bore double flange tips as suggested by others on this thread, and they work great for my ears.
I've also recently discovered ear tips from my Yamaha EPH100 fit nicely on the Keggers. I feel they tame the highs a little more than the double flange, making the sound a bit warmer. If anyone knows where I could find some spares(I've looked everywhere), I'd really appreciate it?

Can you compare EPH100 to SK III ?

The Shockwave trumps it in every way, it just wouldn't be a fair comparison.
I do like the Yammys included eartips better, although their size and shape may be uncomfortable for smaller ears.

Can anyone compare these to the FLC8S?  I'm on the fence with all the great things that FLC offers, and possibly an under-appreciated brand.  I have a thing for not following the herd, and these are one that seem like an outstanding value.

I heard this before many times... I just ordered The yamaha ....I don't like bright iem

No comparison. The SW3 live in a different Universe from the Yami's.

My review of the NiceHCK 8 + 1 (8ba with a dynamic) will be up in a few days. It's a more neutral iem than the ear kegs and bests it in most ways
as an overall package.
