DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix
Sep 18, 2013 at 6:11 AM Post #362 of 1,212
very true

the only thing(s) i'd like to change is the browsing by album - which i suspect may have been fixed with this update and when returning to a previous scroll point in list of albums not having to start all the way at "A" again

My advice wait until most of us burn the new firmware in, ironed out the install issues, mentioned if the mine field is safe then throw yourself in the field! :wink:

If you just press the power button, the screen will turn off and the buttons can still be used. The J3 has one button for both the lock and turning off the screen, with an option in the settings to disallow use of the buttons in lock mode if you so wish. The DX50 has two buttons as the same solution.

Yeah, found out about that... maybe ibasso is catering to those ppl who wants total lockdown.. Well, i noe i wun be using that lock.

Damn... new firmware didn't fix the most annoying bug in DX50 for me: wrong track order on most of my FLAC albums...

CROSS POSTING my 1.1.6 experience from the other thread:

  iBasso FTW!  and thanks Sorensiim for the mirror.  Downloaded in less than a minute and applying now....

Update went smoothly, repeating the instruction for those who don't read the readme:

Instruction For Firmware upgrade:
1, extract the zip file, and copy the update.img into the DX50;
2, select Settings--->Advanced--->System update (the system update option appears after the DX50 has the update.img inside);
3, click OK to start the firmware update;
4, after the firmware update completed, select Settings--->Advanced--->Factory Reset to reset the DX50;

My personal suggestion to do BEFORE the update:
1. eject the micro SD card
2. delete everything on the internal storage then go to Step 1 above
3. eject the DX50 from USB and disconnect the USB cable (but make sure battery is full or close to full) before starting the update

Quick Findings:
1. Scanned DB again after the update, it completed scanning the same full 64gb sandisk class 10 micro SD in under 9 mins, faster than 12mins or so with the original firmware.
2. ' issue is fixed
3. Album are sorted by album artist now
4. 24/192 playback is normal again
5. Bitrate info now shown in the Info screen
6. no new issue encountered thus far
7. no sonic difference I can discern compared to 1.1.5

Mirrors below for easy reference:

  to help spread the load...i have also uploaded it to mega~

finally the damn album list issue has been fixed...and i also notice now the song info can finally show the bit rate info..previously it was just blank...

Posted in wrong thread...posting here in case it helps anyone:

Mine seems to have stopped at "Find and Check Firmware..." for the last 10mins
...think there might be an issue!

Will a power off mid update brick it??

Ok - powered off and ON again...back about screen
Now it says "Cant find firmware image or invalid image...installation aborted"
Rebooting it
back to "Find and Check Firmware..."  seems we're stuck in a loop

OK, pulled the USB plug out, which forced the unit to complain that there was no USB connected...which seems to have been enough to break the loop and continue the update process!

Quality update iBasso

If you search the forum topic someone mentioned to not plug the dap to the USB while flashing the firmware. I always install it when I am off the PC.

There's a member on the last page who had in issue with one link provided. I had the same thing occur as above. (Cant find firmware image or invalid image...installation aborted)

I downloaded this link and it installed; https://mega.co.nz/#!tNdFyB5C!LregvyJGmHUpkK9FcBELGER_WxI2k1DyT_6poniwSfU

But I have a question (this is my first firmware update)

After leaving the recovery menu and the firmware said complete "rebooting" My player is now just hanging on the iBasso Audio start screen?

Is this normal and how long should it hang for?

1) Where did you download the firmware from?
2) Where did you place the update.img file?

I had it on USB power not in the PC
I plugged in the power while it was still in the hung state...as I didnt know how long that was going to stay that way.
It then went into the loop...I then removed the power and that caused it to complain about missing USB power...which broke the loop

Directly from iBasso
root of the 8Gb internal

I had that - got bored after 5mins and powered it off....powered on and then it took me to Home screen.
I have now done a factory reset....wheres its now stopped at the iBasso Audion start screen again
I made sure i removed the 64gb card before starting this whole process

I don't have any problems flashing the firmware if:

1-the internal memory is empty except for the img file
2-off the USB port
3-follow the instructions to the letter, see @kkcc post.

Different success with item 1 above not followed but me I just don't take any chances.
