I am expecting the DX50 to be better than the fiio x3, and the fiio x3 is sonically not far off the ak120....

See?
You can't just say things like that here!

I just choose not to respond, as it will lead to a protracted argument over elementary sound science which will inevitably get this thread locked.
For the record I have tried both the Fiio X3 and the AK120.
The AK120 has significantly better specs than the X3 albeit in ranges beyond human audibility.

I've never heard of an on par comparison for x3 with ak120. I've seen comparisons with ak100 where they said it is ALMOST on par with the ak100. To say the x3 is sonically on par with ak120 is very farfetched..

Nobody said that. I said the X3 is not far off the AK120 which is very different from 'on par'....

To expand on your math:

3.1V / 300ohms = 0.0103333 amperes, or 10.333ma of current (like you said)
but since power (which is what we are concerned with) is calculated in watts = volts * amperes
watts = 3.1V * 0.0103333 = 0.0320...watts, which equals approximately 32mW into 300ohms

32mW into 300ohms is not bad at all, better than a lot of portable amps, and I'd say enough for the 650s

This might be a silly question, but if the DX50 has less than 0.5 ohm output impedance, will it drive properly a 32 ohm headphone(vmoda m100)? I am asking this because I read Tyll's guide about amps and he said that the output impedance should be 1/10 of the headphone impedance.

help you with above answer :)

As for the OTG, i would propably get 2.5" sata ssd, and a usb to sata adapter.

Or maybe go even smaller with usb mSata, and an mSata drive, like these:

or

would need a case for the latter tough.

and

If i end up getting this.
I already have a spare 64gb mSata ssd, since i replaced it with that 256GB crusial one on my tablet.

thanks for the post. It never came to my mind that I could do that

as for "high end" daps sound capabilities - did anyone do the Blind ABX test for all those devices? if not, isn't it just about time for someone to do it?

Tyll is recommending the ratio not be greater than 1/10 (i.e. 1/5 is bad, but 1/12 is good).

0.5 / 32 = 1/64  (which is good, because 1/64 is less than 1/10).

So the DX50 qualifies with its output impedance of 0.5 Ohms, where the ratio to headphone impedance would be 1/64 - far better than 1/10.

"Support SDXC and SDHC MicroSD card, up to 2TB"

How do they know that MicroSD cards up to 2TB will work on the DX50? They don't have cards even remotely close to the 2TB now to test. When they get up to 2TB, they will probably be using something other than XC or HC formats.

Also, has anyone confirmed with ibasso if the DX50 has more than one microSD slot - like the AK100 or 120?

That's just the typical marketing blabla...

Only has one slot
