I don't know how anyone can say this thing is "Bass Light". My unit isn't even burned-in yet and and there's plenty of slam, beautiful decay and layer upon layer of texture. Just finished up a session with Diana Krall - her vocals are wispy and luscious, the upright bass resonating and reverberating with with each pluck of the string and I've never heard such natural drum skins. I've played a bit of Zeppelin and Derek Trucks "Volunteered Slavery" off the Songlines album is sublime. As I type, I've got Nils Lofgren's Keith Don't Go (Accoustic Live) running in through my Bonnevilles (not my most resolving set) and his vocals sweep you away with all the emotion in his voice while each pluck on the guitar resonates with such lifelike presentation. And without question, this is the blackest background I've ever heard. Just stunning - and it's not even broken in.... Hard to imagine what's coming - but to my ears and with every genre I've played, I flat out reject the notion this thing being light on bass.

One question though, I'm plugged on for Super Gain and the green icon is illuminated in the upper left - but there is no choice in the gain settings for "super gain" I still only have L, M, & H as choices and I dont hear any difference with the plug in or plug out. What Am I missing?
I use Keith Don't Go also for evaluating anything sonic in my stuff. So magical with the DC340 as the source.

Just wish we could do super gain from internal batteries. It sounds so much better. It is like the DAC is only running at 50% and super gain takes it to 100%
Not DAC, just the amp. For amplifiers, power is never enough, and so is voltage rails. Typical desktop amp is running > +/-35V rails. The more power and the better the designs = the differences between amplifiers and it prices

There are pros and cons in designing amplifiers. I am sure the GAN FETs module will be very powerful due to the GAN itself. That is why I am so excited for the future modules.

Lets just say, you can cheat the power source from battery packs of 3.5V and inflate it into 12V. But there will be consequences. Unlike desktop which runs off 120v or 220V down to 40-50VDC. There are always limits according to physics for there is also a middle grounds (Typically 6-8V rails for DAP)

The amp15 by itself is 1,200mW@32Ohm on battery. If that isnt enough for portable then I dont know what is.

Certaintly, no one can be as good as to put the entire Linear Power Supplies running off main AC lines and feeding 12V into an amp.....but only running off 3.8V. Such wishes is understandable but unachievable for our current physics and it engineering limitations.

Because limitations exists, compromises exists, the desires for portabilities, and therefore the personal preferences, not only sound subjectivities but also practicalities, are all understandable. Hence to some of us, the 340 may be the end game DAP for the time being, but to some others, it may not be.

I understand what you are saying. Its a pipe dream haha Have to settle with battery pack or Anker for portable use. SQ wise I am very happy with DX340. I just need to avoid hearing the DX360 when it comes out. What I don't know cant mess with what I have now. I don't see how much the DX360 is going to improve. The 340 is already top of the line for me SQ wise. I am not going to spend +1500 to chase 5% better. Does not make any sense. Getting a different IEM could get me more than 5% likely for less money.

For anyone that has or used to have a DX180: I sold my DX180. The buyer is saying 4.4 port is not making good connection. I told them you need to push in until it snaps. They also said the center most part of jack moves. If I remember it always has done that. Is this normal or is my former unit jack broken/defective?

Do you use super gain for IEMs as well, or just full size cans.

I’ve still only got a DX300 and using IER Z1Rs, and have gain set to low but I have a generous volume level and it sounds pretty good to me.

I’ll switch to high for my full size cans (HD800).

I only have IEMs and none require high/super gain. I just love the super gain sound. They all would work fine with low gain. Many IEMs really scale well. It all comes down to preference. I just love that Anker solution and likely get that when I have some cash. Buying 2 DX340's in the same week was a hit to the bank account.

I reflashed the new firmware to see if there was a glitch when I first installed it.

For whatever reason my DX340 is still randomly stuttering playing DSD512 tracks on all music player apps and on Mango OS.

Hopefully a future firmware update will fix this for me.

If anyone wants a test DSD512 file, I can share it if you PM me.

Not all 4.4 plugs are the same , I found with mine some cables, don't make the best connectionand left side cuts out, but my Pentaconn Branded Plug is solid as is my effect Audio cables.

I assumed they were all same.. It worked fine when I had it. Thank you for responding to my question. I always pushed in until I heard a snap or it would cut out.

I have been getting the same stutter when useing Roon via USB to push the DX340 512 or native files off Nuetron, UAPP, Mango. Sounds amazing but there is a small delay then restart every so often

No other issues on my end mentioned previously in the thread. On the new FW since Paul dropped

Noticed this stutter from day one on the OG FW too

Pozdrav

I've got a bunch of cables to test, been using DSD512 files. Happy to report no issues on the Mango Player. OG firmware, no update done.

I also dont have problens with dsd512
I do have horrible studdering. I used Mango is what most here are using to test. I would advise no one to use QFIL to flash right now. There is some missing setting(S) and its not flashing right. I am probably stuck on part of OG and new. I am surprised I got it working as well as it is right now and not messing with it until I get unit #2 back from Bloom.
