Hello, long time reader and just decided to join in the conversation, feeling I might have something to add.
I have been into audio since the late 80's. One thing that seems to be happening, at least in the portable audio, is what appears to be a lack of true quality. I need to show examples of what I mean. I bought a Adcom GFA-555 II back in 1990, I still use almost daily in my 11.2 audio/video set-up. I have never had it rebuilt or worked on. It runs my front speakers, so this is roughly 35 years old. I have a Yamaha RX-A3050 receiver since 2016, Definitive Tech speakers since the early 2000's and some from 2016. All of these things have worked flawlessly for at the minimum, 9 years up to 35 years. I did have a projector, a cheap CD player one DVD player, and one amp in a powered speaker go bad in that time. All other components still function that I kept. Ones I sold, I do not know if they are still functioning. I have my original iPod Classics (Gen 2 and 4) and Nanos, they still work, though the classics batteries are not good. I also have an old Sony CD Walkman that works. All of this is to say, they have longevity.
Now to the gear I have purchased since 2019, Two Filo UTWS5, UTWS3, can't remember the company name, BT Neckband with .78 pin connector, HiBy R6 2020, HiBy R5, Shanling M6 and Moondrop Blessing2's have all died or may work in a limited way. Example, my R6 works only in BT.
My long-winded question is this, I want to buy the DX340 because it has replaceable batteries and amp cards. I worry that it will last only 3 to four years like the others I have bought. I did read many posts back that someone's DX320 just died. Does Ibasso have a reputation as a product that can last 5+ years? It seems that the A&K's, Sony's and L&P's seem to last for many years. But I like the versatility of the DX340. The only other DAPs I am considering are the A&K Kann Ultra or SP300M, though my original budget was $2000, I might have to wait for a sale for the SP3000M.
Sorry for the first post being so long.
