Hello, long time reader and just decided to join in the conversation, feeling I might have something to add.

I have been into audio since the late 80's. One thing that seems to be happening, at least in the portable audio, is what appears to be a lack of true quality. I need to show examples of what I mean. I bought a Adcom GFA-555 II back in 1990, I still use almost daily in my 11.2 audio/video set-up. I have never had it rebuilt or worked on. It runs my front speakers, so this is roughly 35 years old. I have a Yamaha RX-A3050 receiver since 2016, Definitive Tech speakers since the early 2000's and some from 2016. All of these things have worked flawlessly for at the minimum, 9 years up to 35 years. I did have a projector, a cheap CD player one DVD player, and one amp in a powered speaker go bad in that time. All other components still function that I kept. Ones I sold, I do not know if they are still functioning. I have my original iPod Classics (Gen 2 and 4) and Nanos, they still work, though the classics batteries are not good. I also have an old Sony CD Walkman that works. All of this is to say, they have longevity.

Now to the gear I have purchased since 2019, Two Filo UTWS5, UTWS3, can't remember the company name, BT Neckband with .78 pin connector, HiBy R6 2020, HiBy R5, Shanling M6 and Moondrop Blessing2's have all died or may work in a limited way. Example, my R6 works only in BT.

My long-winded question is this, I want to buy the DX340 because it has replaceable batteries and amp cards. I worry that it will last only 3 to four years like the others I have bought. I did read many posts back that someone's DX320 just died. Does Ibasso have a reputation as a product that can last 5+ years? It seems that the A&K's, Sony's and L&P's seem to last for many years. But I like the versatility of the DX340. The only other DAPs I am considering are the A&K Kann Ultra or SP300M, though my original budget was $2000, I might have to wait for a sale for the SP3000M.

Sorry for the first post being so long.

We buy some of the better chips from reputable companies. There can still be issues, eventually. We have many DX100s still being used, and I get comments from customers from time to time that are using it. The batteries we stock and they do need replacement from time to time. The DX100 is 15 years old now and was the 1st true high end dap, though like the MAX series, a larger one. I understand your concern in considering a purchase. We all, for the most part, like longevity. Here at iBasso, we truly want that also and look for ways to make it so.

mine is fickle with charging as well, it always charges with a USB A charger though
Sometimes it is the cable, sometimes it is the charger and time to time, the dap. We want as little stress as possible as this is about enjoying music. When I get an email about an issue, whatever it is, I am stressed. I don't want people to have issues, which is one reason we have gone to the easily replaceable battery and why we pay a little extra to get better batteries. And from chips, resistors to parts like true Pentaconn sockets, we will keep working towards low to no stress.

Such things can happen. However, with iBasso, the percentage of faulty units is minimal. You could ask Paul how many % of units from each series/model were reported dead. I have the DX300, DX320, DX300MAX, DX320MAX, and now the DX340. All are running! Also, whenever something like this happens, iBasso's team deeply analyzes what caused it to happen and starts working toward a solution. They also use the gained knowledge to prevent this from happening in future releases.

As for longevity and support in the long-run, I don't think any other company will take as good care of you as iBasso and Paul will. Especially when it comes to any hardware failures, you will be taken care of. You do not have to worry about being left stranded with an unusable device. Just make sure you make your purchase(s) from official iBasso distributors! iBasso genuinely cares about its supporters and customers.

I don’t mind slow charging, and yeah, it could be cables or chargers, the 140W Apple charger for example works no problem… so as I said, fickle to charge, wonderful to play music from :)

My faceplate arrived !!! Time for some fun with Nutubes module 13/14

It comes with: face plate (and screws), metal case, screws and screw driver. Almost All you need for swapping

You do need a small phillips screws for PCB screws

Just as expected, the amp modules carried over from 320 is narrower in width. It will not simply fit the grooves. Do it slow and gently. The face plate will sit in. Once it sits properly, you are set

Hold both sides of the faceplate. Drop it in slowly and steady. Please make sure you dont have the Card Face down.

Just as picture shown. The large and bulky components facing you. Then the back glass of the 320 also Face you.

i

Regardless of my previous post(s), I certainly see value in optimizing/debloating devices. I suggest making a clear distinction between (unnecessary) apps and packages, though.

After having removed some apps, I noticed only ±16 packages (of ±130 in total) were actually loaded (adb shell pidof <package>), of which 7-8 can be safely uninstalled. So I still don't think the entire list is necessary. In addition, many of the steps in the optimization guide can be done via ADB commands. More than happy to help/support; please feel free to contact me.
Thank you! I will PM you. Reason for using the app is many people do not want to use commands and with app its easy to enable something if needed. I am OCD about having stuff that is not needed on my devices - PC, phone, DAP etc. I am not an Android expert. If you look at my guide I attempted to classify apps as needed, possibly needed and not needed. I chose to disable vs uninstall because there is no shortage of storage space. Perhaps with your knowledge/help and my documenting we can make the guide even better.

Dont reset it, just a restart and you will be fine. For now, only regular USB A to C

I had unfortunately already done a full reset! I then charged using USB A to C and while it did resume charging, it then stopped at 77%. Beginning to feel it’s an actual fault, maybe best I get on to the seller?

Oh and I still have an issue trying to switch to Mango from Android - it just stalls on the iBasso screen and I then have to force power down, it then reboots in Mango - this is still happening in spite of having done 3 full resets. Any suggestions @Paul - iBasso please?

Thank you, Paul, I have been following this thread since the beginning and I must say, I am pleased with your interaction with all here. I think I will buy, I will go through Bloom Audio or HeadAmp if I do. I have not dealt with Bloom yet, but they seem to be a good source. Thank you also to Whitigir and Voja, one question would be, do you use the player daily? I use my portable gear almost every day.

How did you get your hands on it already? I still haven't received any updates in regards to the order I placed directly via Paypal on the Jan 12th, also paid the premium DHL shipping fee 😥
My amp13 actually get waterfall noises when used with the 340 though. 😵😭 ...well...back to PB5 and amp15
The frontplate looks like it's for AMP13? Do you also have an AMP14?
I've ordered and I'm still waiting to get my hands on the frontplate for AMP14 and will provide feedback once it arrives...no sure when though since iBasso is out with the Chinese New Year and I haven't received any tracking or updates on the order...this sucks. :triportsad:

We are about the same time, you, me and my friends. Mine and friends were all shipped out. For some reasons, sometimes my DHL shipments arrive very quickly and sometimes it gets hold up. Yes, I was using amp 13. If you ordered with Paul, I think your should be on it ways as it appears the first Batch is before China newyear.
