Guys I have question, how do you burn-in your dx340?
* keep it connected to usb-c power outlet when burn-in (battery saver on or off?)
* charge to 100% take it off the charger and burn-in/drain your battery till flat
* any other route?

You can leave it plugged into the charger. Once the battery is fully charged, it is no longer charged and the adapter takes over. I would not run down the battery each time, as you are just shortening the battery life in the long run and there is no need to do this except for the first couple of times to calibrate and form the battery. I would play at a normal volume with regular resolution music.

Hey @Paul - iBasso, any news about the frontplates for AMP14? (and potentially AMP12, AMP13 for those of us who also ordered them).
Was curious if we have any chance of having them shipped before the Chinese New Year sets in.
Thank you!

Just learnt from him, that they are creating the page(s) on iBasso.com as we speak. Whether or not they can ship before Chinese New Year remains to be seen...

Actually, I have a question related to this. I understand that the AMP battery section gets bypassed when using the DC-In adapter, and I understand that the AMP battery section will still get charged if you are charging through USB-C port and it's below 100%. However, if one was to leave the DX340 charging through USB-C, and also use the DC-In adapter, wouldn't that still strain the battery? The Digital section of the battery will still get drained when using the unit (e.g. during the burn-in phase), and if DX340 is left connected to USB-C charger, wouldn't the Digital battery section be subjected to constant charge/discharge?

When Googling about this, I got mixed answers. Some suggested that once the battery reaches 100%, it stops being charged just rests there, while the external power supply (phone charger) takes over and supplies the device with the needed power. If this is how the DX340 is designed, that's very neat!

Hmm what about iBasso Nunchaku? :D It's already on sale since Jan 15th on Taobao.com

From what Paul has shared with us here's how it all functions when it comes to the 2 internal batteries:
  1. Battery that powers the DAP - is charged only via USB-C port and only until it's full/or reaches the limit set - in which case the DAP switches to using the USB-C provided power unless unplugged
  2. Battery that powers the AMP - is charged only via USB-C port - can be entirely bypassed if user plugs in the 12V DC plug
Thus, if a user plugs in both USB-C cable and 12V DC plug at the same time and the 2 built-in batteries are fully charged, then the battery won't get used at all and only external power will be the one powering everything.

Wow! That's bonkers! Now I wonder whether this has been around since the DX300 (perhaps even earlier than that). What a brilliant feature. That basically allows it to be used as a stationary DAP.

Thank you for letting me know, I would've never figured this out on my own ;)

I would not worry about batteries. You can replace yourself. $30 I think was the price for the DX320 one. Bloom sells the batteries for the other iBasso DAPs. $30 for a +1K DAP is nothing. If iBasso decides to create a DX350 with D17 DAC I will be happy I didn't buy a DX340 right away. How is the AMP section on the D16 compared to the DX340?

No. Not in DX300/320. It used battery which was charged as I know this from asking Paul which he told me to limit charge to 80% with that setting. If DX340 now bypasses both batteries when plugged in AMP and DAP that is a new feature which should allow the batteries to last longer but kinda mute point when they are so cheap and easy to replace.

I see. My conclusion is that it's because now the AMP section can be powered by the DC-In adapter. Before, both battery sections relied on one USB-C port, and my guess is that it couldn't supply sufficient power to drive both the analog and digital sections. Or perhaps it's all in the circuitry design.

This, however, makes me wonder whether the DX300MAX and DX320MAX have this feature. Both of them have the USB-C port for the digital section, and the DC-In for the analog section. If they don't benefit from this design/feature, it's likely down to the circuitry.

For me, it's not much about the battery cost. Although not all iBasso's DAPs have a removable back, I think that replacing the batteries was never a concern. I just think it's a very neat feature for the times when the DAP will be used in a stationary setup. Whether that be for watching movies or gaming.

No other Ibasso DAP had this desktop features previously. The Maxes upto this point DC in is to charge the batteries only.

The circuitries have to be designed around the feature in order to senses and also switch voltage on demands

Aaand, now we have confusion. Which one is it? Matt said he got the information from Paul himself.

I would understand if this feature was there for the MAX's, but for DX300/DX320, it doesn't make much sense. Are you saying the standard external power supply can provide enough power to drive both the analog and digital sections while in use?!

I don't want to bother Paul with this information. He's already busy enough with everything behind the scenes.

My appologies if my post confused you. What I was saying is that, only Dx340 has desktop mode.

No other Ibasso DAP has it. Not even Maxes.

The circuitry have to be designed specially for such features.
