I just received mine today, just the basic black 'leather' version. I've very happy with it. I always assume these aren't real leather even if they say they are, but it actually smells of leather.
Same here. @DingDongMaster described them as "crude." Admittedly, they might not be as nice as the Jutem, but my case is certainly not crude. I have no idea why a "tight" case would be a bad thing. After I put the unit in the case I want the case to hold onto it for dear life!
...the sound is quite sterile and bass non existent (literally kills the bass even with more bass heavy IEMS like the RN6), especially considering hundreds of hours of burn in.

Even Twister6 never really mentions anything about it lacking in low end in his review... and I tend to put quite a bit of trust in his opinions and reviews.
I prefer plenty of low end, so I was a little skeptical of the DX340 at first due to some of those early "bass shy" opinions. But the screen and battery improvements, the new Amp16 tube amp availability, and Twister6's review convinced me to give it a go.

You worry because of what one person says when there are so many in this thread that really like the DX340? It takes some burn in but I have been able to compare it to some of the best and to me, it is the best on the market. AMP16 is an excellent amp with it as well but needs around 100 hours of burn in time. I have compared it to my Hugo and the DX340 has more life to the sound, it is just better, IMO.
I plugged them into my WM1AM2 and the sound was just superb: warm analog sound without harshness or sibilance. I'm wondering how they'd sound through either GT2 or DX340 and which of the 2 DAPS sounds warmer. Also I currently own the Monarch MkII but I think it's time for an upgrade.

Super gain even with IEMs wirh Amp15 is good. I listen to trance /edm so bass is important. Once modded I should not have to use super gain. If you are using CFA I don't know how they would do with SG. Change volume up one point does not increase it very much. If you are getting brand new it will likely be bass weak so don't panic. This improves after some hours. You can experiment with low, med,, high gain with 12 V DC in.

@Jonanzzy10 It appears you have not read the instructions completely: "adb remount" takes ±30 seconds on 1st run, you can safely ignore any output". And you seem to have missed the 3rd command...adb shell

The 340 is not bass light or shy. It is also not the best of extensions. Its superpower is a very natural and organic render with a linear soundstage. A refined sound so to speak. It doesn’t win in absolute amount of bass, it does it in a refined way.
In this aspect. The RS8 with a mid bass hump is better. You get that bit more oomph. Some IEMs don’t need it, but others might sound better with more body and punch.
In my opinion it does not. At least with the stock amp: with amp 15 (I think that's how the stock one is called) the sound is quite sterile and bass non existent (literally kills the bass even with more bass heavy IEMS like the RN6), especially considering hundreds of hours of burn in.
I still need to try with amp 16, but the stock DX340 is very very underwhelming in my opinion (it costs half compared to ak3000 and RS8 to be honest, but the R8ii is it's perfect competition and it greatly outclasses it in my opinion).
I'm having some noob issues with Mango Player, actually with DX320 but I'm trying here cos the DX320 forum is a bit of a ghost town and I'm guessing(?) that the OS is structurally similar. Is it possible to read m3u files within the Mango OS Mango Player? They are sitting with my FLAC files on my SD card, visible through the file directory and definitely readable as I can play them OK in the Android Mango Player. But through the Mango OS they don't show up on a scan, and (unlike the Android Mango Player) there's no checkbox to scan for m3u files also. Is it even possible? Thanks to anyone who has an answer either way - even if that's just "go back to the DX320 thread".

I listen to a lot of electronic music on the dx340. Super gain and fir rn6 slam with real authority. I've changed to amp 16 today to see how that one sounds. To be fair I think the hype for the dx340 is justified. Amazing sounding dap
Also iem measurement chart comparisons are also kind of fundamentally flawed as it's hard to reproduce the exact same ear canal seal conditions on repeated tests of same iem or different iems.
The actual precise shape of the ear canal, both for an ear simulator as well as for a human ear canal, is of minor influence, if the volumes and lengths are well defined. A further complicating factor in the low-frequency response is the influence of leaks between the DUT and the ear canal surface. With complicated ear canal geometry, it becomes difficult to achieve the same leak from test to test and therefore difficult to evaluate effects of design changes or modifications.
