You can use my root required optimization or Stouthart's or maybe try both but do his first then mine. His does not require root and fast to deploy. You will have to flash to use mine before rooting. Tweaking the OS does improve SQ. Yesterday I did all this remotely on a friends DX340.What else can be optimized? I also put in amp16 today and I am delighted, even though I am listening without 13V DC, I connected kinera loki and there is magic![]()

Another glaring review for the beloved dx340 https://www.audiophile-heaven.com/2...-dap-ibasso-dx340-reference-music-player.html
It is the SE cable. I'm using 4.4 with my HD650 and they are fantastic. The HD650, though acceptable, doesn’t reach the performance I’ve achieved with Audio-GD C2 or the Glenn OTL — both offer a more organic and weighty presentation.
As for the HD800, even with Super Gain, it isn’t well driven. I’m using a single-ended Forza Noire Hybrid cable, which may be part of the limitation.

I did a comparison of DX340 with Hugo 2 on a set of headphones and a set of IEMs and they were very close to equal. However, side by side I could tell the Hugo 2 was more resolving and clearer with the leading edge of notes more pronounced. Otherwise it was really close to the point I consider selling my Hugo 2.I see that you have Hugo2. How is it next to DX340? Do they complement each other?
This is a very easy portable solution. Thank youHere is the one I use.

You just need to get the pouch I have and you can take it anywhere. I have that exact setup. This is a very easy portable solution. Thank you

The DX340 is my bedside setup, but I guess it’s good to have such a pouch for Canjam’s.You just need to get the pouch I have and you can take it anywhere. I have that exact setup.

Only $16
I use my 340 in pouch all the time. You have to open up the side that DAP is in when using 12V DC In as the 340 gets hot when you aren't on the move with it. You can do both battery bypass (use 36 watt port plug in with DAP off USB C to USB C) and 12VDC in. Only wire that sticks out is IEM cable.
Interesting that you decided to keep the DX340 and sell the Hugo2. Hi all,
I'm happy owner of Dx340 since a few weeks now. I love the sound of it especially with AMP14.
However, I encounter some weird issue with my DX340, and didn't find anything on this thread or elsewhere.
As I'm listening, I have some random "crack noise". It can happen a few times during the same song. Best way to descibe it would be like a sound of an old vinyl, but occurs randomly and it lasts just one instant like a "pop". When it happens, I go back to the few seconds where it happened and it's clean, so it doesn't come from the track or the file.
I tried to experiment myself, as I thought maybe it could come from micro SD, or from the software, or from IEMs.
- I don't think it comes from MicroSD as I copy paste to internal memory and the same occured. Also, the MicroSD never had this problem with other devices and I had a few
- It occurs in Mango app, and also in Mango OS, in third party app like UAPP also
- tried with a few IEMs, same problem for all 3
- I tried to burn a bit my DAP (few hours), but nothing changed so far
- I changed AMP15 to AMP14, still the same
- Factory reset didn't work neither
I thought maybe it comes from the last firmware, as I don't think I had the issue when out of the box with FW 1.02...but I don' know.
I tried to go back to previous firmware 1.02, downloaded it but I had a failure message.
Does anyone know if possible to downgrade to previous firmware and how to do so ?
Did someone in the community encouter the same issue ?
Do you have any suggestion ?
I contacted Paul about this issue, it is known from Ibasso, he said it would be hopefully solved in the next firmware release.
Thank you for your help !

Flash your Dap to latest FW. Link to my thread is in my signature. Follow directions exactly as in guide. This will solve your issue. I have links to all 340 FW in guide if you want to go back to 1.02. IF you need help PM me. I have flashed 340 remotely for a friend. You do need a Windows PC.Hi all,

Not sure why Paul told you its a known issue. I have NEVER had any issues with pops etc. FW bugs happen on EVERY DAP. That is how software works. My guess is you did OTA of the latest FW and it did not apply right. When this happens it will mess up sound. I know this because when I 1st got the DX340 I did not have flash settings right and it had SQ issues. Once flashed correctly sounded perfect. I advise people NEVER to do OTA. Only flash.

I still have both. I prefer convenience of a DAP so that's why I'm thinking about selling Hugo 2. I don't like to have equipment sitting around when I can sell it and buy new stuff. But it's really a hard decision between the 340 and Hugo 2. Side by side Hugo wins but if I am not comparing them side by side it's hard to tell.Interesting that you decided to keep the DX340 and sell the Hugo2. Is it because you just want a new toy or you prefer DX340 sound?

Hello again, I would like to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to mattclarke18, he helped me do the whole dx340 optimization process.
Once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your patience and time.
The ibasso team should hire you to work on the software for their devices.
The effects are already amazing and apparently it's not over yet ;D I will try to write more impressions after it is fully optimized
