And then there's still:
Amp12:
  • W
  • EXN
  • EXS
And probably missing a few mods ...
I have been playing around with Amp11 like forever !!! People has been asking me to publish and do the Amp11EX. Over so many irritations, wasting money in the trash…etc…

BTW, @Maxx134 is enjoying the Original Amp11EX a bit . Maxx is also an amazingly enthusiasts, a modder at heart ❤️, and with this ideas of his, I happened to tweak the Amp11.2 faster !!

Ladies and gentlemen ! Presenting here is Amp11.2MUSE-X

It has everything the EX does and more , such as all high performances Polymer, Foils caps, tantalum cap from Vishay, Elna Silmic II, Cerafine, KEMET organic polymer

The name means it has transcended away from EX, and now with reinforced Power supply, MUSE8920 Op-Amps

The signatures is engaging and great depth, with timbres realisms in mind, the vivid textures while delivering it smoothly, excellent cues of placements and very dynamic. The main aim for this modifications were to optimize the timbres dynamic delivery from ROHM DAC.

Soundstage isn’t going to be comparable to Amp12, because of 2 vastly different output architectures. However, some will love the engaging feelings and vividity of the Amp11 VS the more diffused presentations on Amp12!

This is also the most expensive, the most labor intensive, the most risky, to make (only less expensive than Dx220Max-EX).

Tuning based on Dx320 and HD800S as a references

Be warned : Higher Gain, louder, and also consuming more analog battery as well. Also, removed 3.5mm

The only sad thing is that it took me forever to finish this to the point of satisfying. Now the MUSE is phasing out of production. The best time to get it will be now, before it would have gone to obsolete.

Also, if you are serious into DIY and want to know the detailed components, you can PM me. I wouldn’t publish it due to how crazily complex this build is.

Yes, Steve can also make it for sure :)

For me the dx320 sounds better with amp13 than with the EXN. Its more natural and it loses unnecessary edges on the notes. I find it the most natural from all the combinations. I had the opportunity to test some good quality desktop sources last days and most of them had smooth, spacious sound. Only dx323 could pick up the fight with them. In most cases it won but still i think it lacks a bit of a typical stationary bass slam. Everything else was top notch on the 323 and when the song had powerful bass, the dx323 won against all of them.

I have the amp12 and it will stay stock, why would i pay for a mod ? Useless
That's a personal decision you take
I don't mind exploring different sounds
And definitely not if it improves over stock or what I have today
Why else would I buy other IEM and cables ... 🤷

Completely agreed, Stock Ibasso is already amazing, and that is why I have been crazily in love with Ibasso. I can totally confirm that you don’t need modifications to enjoy your Ibasso at all. However, it is just an optional side quests for people who would love to travel down a bit deeper into the rabbit holes :)

How deep is your love 😜

Just received an AMP11 Mki today from an awesome Head-fier. I’m excited to see how this compares to the stock AMP11 Mkii :)

Omg!! Such a rare Beast!!! Amazing to pair with Dx320
So far, so good! I may have to let this amp burn in before posting any impressions.

Those loooooong capacitor leads ... uuuggghhh. I realize it's unavoidable in that application.
Size is a wonderful factor and also is the greatest sin 😂😂.

But this will make DX300/320 to be the first portable player on the market to be able to sport these wonderful Film Foils capacitors as well.

Just catching up on this thread - met with @Vitaly2017 last week to hear the AMP13.

Here are my quick thoughts on different configs paired up with IER-Z1R. In order of favorites to least:

1. DX320 + AMP11MKi: Most balanced tonality + very good dynamics. The 11MKi amp is warmer than 11MKii and compliments the more technical sounding DX320 fantastically

2 a. DX300 + AMP11MKi: A bit less sharp and snappy as the above, but tonally fantastic. The synergy here is good but less focused sounding and more expansive, if not a bit ethereal

2 b. DX320 + AMP11MKii: This is the stock configuration and just a fantastic package. A bit more technical prowess that the above, but a bit less natural sounding ultimately. Both options are trading blows and considered equals in my mind.

3. DX300 + AMPMKii: It's the leanest of the bunch sound-wise. Dynamics are almost a no-show here and it just kind falls flat tonally. Most ethereal and spacious of the bunch, but a bit too delicate and forward. That being said, detail is great, if not the best of the bunch, it's just not very tactile.

4. DX320 + AMP13: It's very smooth. It sounds naturally tubey, and offsets the stock DX320 config quite well if you find it too technical. In my case, stock DX320 is fantastic and the smoothing with this AMP13 module is not so welcomed over all, but not at all bad. Transients and dynamic impulse is more wet/ smoothed and it's obvious, but it is in no way veiled.

5. DX300 + AMP13: The DX300 is already more detail-focused with a lack of "note feeling" or tactility therefore not very dynamic and more so plasticky, then you compound the softened dynamics and transients by adding the tube and it just sounds like an old phono record lol. It's super smooth + lacking any sorta of grit to its sound. Very smooth and buttery with too much midbass bloom. For Jazz it could be incredible, but it's definitely not toe-tapping in any way.

Now I really want to try the AMP12.

Hahaha okay time for you to get dx320 and stock amp hehe
Maybe I’ll jump in and get the amp 12 stock prior trying a modded one but I need to find a balanced cable first lmao. Tiger is so lost no cable to audition hes own gear what is this lmao

So then you prefer bypassing the internal ROHM DAC and using the DX320 as a transport with an external DAC.
If I'm not mistaken because the coax out of the DX is analog, it would still use the DAC, just not the amp.

Better hang on that one, it IS a collector's item after all.... :)
