I’m waiting for the DX320 to arrive. I use Meze Liric, but having read this conversation IEMs seems to be something special.

Do anyone have any experience on IEMs compaired to Liric?
I can only compare the 7hz Timeless to the Audeze LCD-X. I have cables for both to use with the AMP11mk2 via 3.5 SE connection or using 4.4 balanced connection. I have the AMP12 card where I can do the same comparison. I also spent some time recently with an AMP13.

Overall, I prefer the AMP12 card, slightly punchier on the low end, excellent detail retrieval (and not sibilant). Everything mentioned applies for both the Timeless and LCD-X setups.

The presentation between the two are obviously different (soundstage, listener position mostly), and both provide hours of listening enjoyment. Lately though I've preferred a headphone setup, to my ears, it's closer to a 2 or 2.1 channel presentation. It's not uncommon for me to go 2, 3, even 4 hour listening sessions with the LCD-X. I've used IEMs nearly exclusively for the past decade, and while I don't regret the Timeless purchase at all (I actually have 2!)....IEM fatigue sets in when not using them for the isolation quality.

Both my headphones have better soundstage than my IEMs, but ymmv since I use Arya for openback and Verite Closed for closedback and both of these have bigger soundstage than the Meze Liric. Most IEMs probably will not be as good as the Meze Liric in the imaging department, so if you look for imaging, then you might already have the best. The only reason I think you would prefer IEMs would be if you like the tuning of an IEM more - if you are one of the ppl who find the Meze Liric's midrange a bit wonky, and bass a bit slow.

A quick question, please, regarding the USB-DAC function.

Does it work free of glitches:
- When connected to a PC using the supplied USB-C (DX320 end) to USB-A (PC end) cable?
- Any requirements on the USB-A port of the PC? Are USB 2 and 3 both okay?
- Need for a dedicated iBasso driver for Windows 10 or 11? How about ASIO instead of WASAPI?
- How about sending DSD or MQA (at 1st unfold) from the PC by Roon?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Wow. The unit looks really amazing, I was tempted on getting one as an upgrade over the DX300. What stopped me is that the only difference between the special edition and the standard DX320 is the housing. I expected iBasso to do some special tuning for it, setting it aside from the other two. Still considering it in the back of my mind.

Nice! That is something I would not use a case with

Agreed, and if he does, may be a clear one. The chassis look to not have any coating on it too

Yeah! Went to collect it during lunch.
I took out the black leather case to try on and soon put it away.
The Edition X needs to stay NAKED! might have a clear case coming.
The finishing on the body feels beautifully raw. Don't think there's any coating but I might be wrong.

Time to let it burn for now.

I have titanium in the same daps that are aluminum and copper as well. The case does make a difference in sound. How much is anyone's guess.

Now I'm curious about how the housing material could affect the sound. I wonder if @Paul - iBasso could explain a bit.

The simplest explanation is that different ground references has different resistive properties . Whether or not it effect the sound is completely upon you, because there is no known technical methods to measure the differences such as noises in mV…etc… or even upto a sweep references frequencies….or any other technical parameters that can showcase the differences.

It still is waiting for some self proclaimed professional to invent a method to measure it so. But most of the so called professionals are all about denying that such a casting materials can change sounds. Please mind you that it is very typical for most of the professionals to stay in the “in denial state” for many things

It effects eddy currents. I don't think shielding so much since the case with not all encompassing but there are minor currents that effect sound. This is what I have learned over the years. I read somewhere that liquid metal has a good conduction of current.
