Well, maybe not an issue for the dx260, but Android updates make sure that apps like Roon and Amazon Music work, as well as providing security fixes, device fixes (e.g. the DX240 5gHz wifi is basically just useless), etc. I get that it doesn't benefit you, but more thought and less snarkiness is often valuable.
There is no snakiness. Some apps don't keep up. And I have never had a security issue with a dap. 2.4ghz is all that is really needed on a dap, while 5 is faster, it isn't needed and 2.4 has better range. And I meant it. I listen to the player and have some that are pretty old that still work fine and sound good. I can see why phones are good to keep up to date, regarding security fixes and possibly enhancements, but on. player. . well I don't see it but that is ok, that in my opinion and I am always open to discussion.

Meaning what? The problem is the opposite: New versions of apps don't always work with sufficiently backlevel OS versions. That's just how software development and testing goes.
And I have never had a security issue with a dap.
Good. I hope it stays that way for you. Unless you don't log in to a google account (e.g. in the Play Store) and are sure not to have connections to your LAN, that's not a very safe policy. I'm glad you're OK with it, though.

Yeah, I keep hearing that. But range and limited throughput are not the only criteria. 2.4gHz is a very crowded bit of spectrum. It's not always reliable in ever location (my office, for example).

If it wasn't for Android 5 not supporting most streaming apps, I would still use my FiiO X7ii daily. Now that was a nice DAP... I still have several amp modules and the compatible Q5s as well. ;)

i have to agree.

i would love to see an android update for the still rather new dx260 to bring it at least on par with the dx180... or bring it up to date entirely, ideally. (i believe this will remain a wish though; i don't really think this will happen.)

as for security issues: i'm deliberately constraining my use of the dap because of that. e.g. i have a separate google account only for this device, have a separate wlan segment just for these types of devices etc. i would prefer just getting security updates and be done with all that...

Are there any discernable audio quality differences between pure Mango and the Mango app on Android? Utilizing the full capabilities of the DX260's sound without turning Gapless off would be nice.

FYI, Paul said iBasso will incorporate the feedback tool into the DX260 with the next firmware update to troubleshoot such issues more efficiently.

Hello, did someone compare dx260 to chord mojo2 ? Thanks
Both is great, mojo 2 non comfortable for daily usage with overall slightly better sound. Mojo2 depends on which app you use on android, with streaming apps sound is very close. Noise level on mojo 2 higher, isn't dead silent device like dx260.

Just ordered dx260, I will compare them 😅
I like sound of mojo 2 better, but I'm too lazy to set up every time I listen to music and drown in adapters and wires.

That’s not the point, I do care about sound quality so can swap between phone and mojo2 and a dap only
Sound will be better if you pair dx260 with mojo 2
