Obviously if you don't use Roon or want PEQ, it doesn't really matter... but FiiO M11 Plus/M21/M23 DAPs have both features. Just trying to prod iBasso to step up.
I use Wavelet for all things EQ including many customized Squig link profiles for my various sets of IEMs. It's super handy and has a 'strength' slider for the profiles to increase or decrease the changes. Works system-wide, even over BT. It also has some/many AutoEQ profiles preloaded but it's trival to export from Squig link and import into Wavelet.

I agree ibasso needs peq system wide. I use Wavelet. Wish they would have put one bit DAC in Dx260 replacement.

Ibasso is better built and has better support. Can you replace battery on Fiio? Can it be tweaked? I don't plan on getting anything other than Ibasso. My 340 will last me a long time. Would not mind one day getting a 180 or 260 for something lighter and smaller.

Not sure on the build quality or support, but I do own the DX180 (as well as M11 Plus ESS).

When I tried Wavelet and Poweramp equalizer on my DX180 I had a huge decrease in volume. Maybe I should try again.

Enable legacy mode in wavelet. I use it on my 340 and could blow my ears out. Use it on my cell phone with BT no issues.

DX260Mk2 has Battery bypass like DX340!!! This is an excellent feature and only way I use my DX340 because internal battery life is like 8 hours last I read and only use Super Gain. If you use high gain on DX260 you will find this useful. Internal battery only used to boot DAP.

Yeah I dont stream or EQ much so not biggy for me. I suspect the DX180 will sound better then the M21 in most cases due to the DACs being better.
How are DX180 DACs better than M21? Because they don't have integrated amplifiers so you think signal is going to be clearer?
My 340 will last me a long time.
Snapdragon 665 in DX340 is a shame though. Even JM21 has 680...

665 is fast enough on DX340 especially if optimized - mine have no lag audio apps are boosted in priority over all others. 180 vs 260 I liked 260 a bit more probably the amp section and some micro details are a bit better but not worth the price difference. I like neutral DAPs. Ibasso is trying to keep costs under control by going with 665 as all their current models will use same Android and SOC which makes sense for a small company. Would you rather pay more money just for a faster SOC?

Wait for several app updates and upgrades and in 2 years it may start lagging. Borderline smooth on release is not great, and most people don't optimise their ROMs.

I agree with you. Most people do not optimize. My 340s are bare bones. No Google Play crap. I only use 2 apps for music. As long as Neutron and Wavelet work I am happy. I will have a guide for the DX260MKII and debloat presets. I will have to do a lot of work on my Magisk modules to see what settings sounds best. Flash and Root will be easy. For people that run lots of apps I can see where the 665 SOC could be an issue or more likely RAM first on DX260MKII. Base DX340 is around 2GB out of box used out of 8GB. Google Play alone uses a lot. The stupid Google keyboard and default launcher too if I recall use over 250MB combined. Don't remember what DX180 uses out of the box. I know it will have the cnss_diag QCC crap process that takes up CPU and writes to storage all the time which is not good for best SQ especially if you are using internal storage for streaming apps. If you have an Ibasso just get the dev tool kit and run "top" and you will see it.

Bloom has confirmed with Paul that Dx260 Mk2 comes with battery bypass like the DX340. You will be able to use plugged in as much as you want and even use with USB power bank and always use battery bypass. Internal battery only needed to boot.
