Muse Nichicon was in your amp4s. You shouldn’t change it, because it improves further upon what the 4S was (and not tuning it into a slight different like Amp8). In my opinion at least

Do you have a link?

I don’t have a Mouser Link, you can look up UKW Muse. Gold-black jacket

Interesting, I just had a 45mn audition... yeah the bass and mids were smooth detailed and very organic, I had an issue with the trebles though or at least my impression was that the SP1000 was less forgiving of average or bad mastering than the DX200. On good recordings and well mastered stuff, smooth all the way. It could make it less of an all rounder than DX200 in that respect. Also, I don't think the SP1000 has a reference signature, as it's not really neutral. But no hiss for sure and a very impressive black background.

I agree with you for sure on basically everything you said.

whitigir@yahoo.com did you try using mundorf caps or blackgate if you can get hold of them?
They are too big to fit in the Amp modules. With the design of Dx200 and it amp modules. We are lucky to be able to have juicy electrolytic capacitors. I don’t think LPGT or SP1000 has any of them. There are some special characteristics that only Electrolytic capacitors can bring. Tantalum and MLCC can not do so, and vice versa. It is totally awesome to have them all in the DX200 :D

If you're going to RMAF Denver Canjam, do try to get a prolonged audition with the R2R2000 with your own music/ microsd card on your Legend X. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.

That's assuming the next R2r2k fw update will keep DAP functionality, since they are flip'flopping between USB dac and DAP :p

Never mind, it is the Xu216 that is able to do 768Khz and not 208

Probably a bit off-topic, though related to your question, I was looking at the spec of AK4137EQ Pro SRC upsampling chip (feel free to PM me if you want to play the guessing game Vince), and I also noticed while it supports up to 768kHz PCM and DSD512 hardware upsampling, manufacturer/s like to cap it at only 384kHz and DSD256, so I was wondering about limitation as well. Ok, back on-topic!

Wait, you are correct. The Xmos208 can take 768KHz. I really wonder if Ibasso will release firmware to allow it to do 768KHz for the future. For now it is at 384Khz only

Why am I asking ? Well, it is interesting, but as the Dx200 can be such a good external USB/DAC player. I am connecting it to my build-PC and is utilizing the HQPlayer with it excellent algorithm to Up-scaling the PCM into higher Sampling and still remaining PCM (384khz) now.

For all that said, I do hear the benefits (the idea was all from Chord M-Scaler) LoL! It is another way to enjoy music beside the DSD512. However, by doing this, one really need a beefy build-PC. It is a reason why I don’t recommend to all. But everyone can try out.

Anyways, it would be overkill if Dx200 will enable 768KHz by firmware, which LPGT is going to do at release. If so, it would mark another milestone that Dx200 had been future proof from 2 years ago....the flux capacitors is probably somewhere in the player ....Let’s see what @Paul - iBasso say

**The sub-bass will be affected, the rest of the bass will remain**

Swap out the Siemens cap by this Nichicon. The sub-bass will be more coherent to the rest of the bass lines and be more balanced but won’t be lacking the slams and punches, the warmth will be tamed down. It will also be very revealing and layering similar to Amp1Ti. Especially that trebles airiness and extensions. On bad records, you would yank out the headphones and want to delete it right away (0 tolerances whatsoever for such)

If you want to tame down those, which I had to because I am using hd800S. I put in this . Mouser is out of them, get something else at similar value

Btw, don’t ask me if I just used any cap value at random....no....I used them for a reason, and judge them (improvements) by ears. In this hobby, if I don’t judge them by ears, I would have quit a long time ago.

So to be sure @Whitigir you said Nichicon FP is only replaced for the Siemens caps in amp8 whereas Muse Nichicon parallels with multilayer ceramic caps MLCC FX7R for amp4s?
