DUNU DN-2000J -- More Than Evolution?

Hi Bram - thanks.  Yes the Sony Isolation tips are the same as the Hybrids - but they have foam inside the silicone - so they act as a hybrid between foam and silicone.  You get the strength and long wearing of silicone - but the isolation, seal and comfort of foam.

I had to get someone to buy them for me in Japan and send them to NZ.  Expensive but worth it.

This might be a good pic to explain them

Alright, got it.

Do you mind to try the JVC-FXD eartips I sent you with DN-2000J and let me know how's the sound?

I saw on your pictures, both Fiio X3ii and the new Fiio X5. Do you have any preference between them to drive DN-2000J?

Thanks Paul!

It's not a hard IEM to drive (at all) - both handle it wonderfully.  But the X5ii is a step up from anything Fiio has released.  I was just commenting on the Lab thread before that X5ii + DN-2000J = magic

JVCs fit fine (not as tight on the nozzle - but seem to be staying put).  For me they suddenly got quite boomy - then I realised that the looser fit is actually sliding over the top of the collar and blocking the bass port.

And then I just went to take them out of my ear and a tip is stuck.

Sorry mate - not working for me.  I'll stick with the Sonys.

Oh I see, so the JVC eartips blocks the bass port and a bit loose.  Noted that!

Must try X5ii + DN-2000J

From Brooko's review: (which is a tremendous review btw, one of his best yet)

Vivian has told me that the RRP will be USD 349, and the actual launch date is around 10th June. At this price, the DN-2000J is not a cheap IEM – but for those looking at a single long term premium IEM, these are definitely worth the money being asked IMHO.

It looks like Penon received a few earlier releases which makes sense considering their location.  And about the second part of the quote, I'm very much in agreement with Brooko, 2000J is certainly shaping up to be the best release from Dunu yet,

Excellent review Paul!

Btw, agree with you on this:
"my suggestion for an ultimate model would still be detachable tuning filters/nozzles."

Ring tuning is simple, but might be too subtle. I myself using silver ring on my DN-2000.

And @Brooko

There is the FLC Technology FLC8. ljokerl gives them a personal sound grade above DN-2000, and at the level of K3003.

I haven't heard the FLC8 so can't comment. And Joker was referring to the DN-2000, not the DN2000J - I think you'll find there is quite a difference between the two ;)

Just gotta swing by LMUE! That's what I've been doing for the past few weekends lol. And I just listen to the FLC8. After playing around with the signatures, I like the combination that makes it flat and mildly mid-centric. In that combination it sounds like a smooth, melodious and lusher Havi b3 while losing non of the detail.

そうですね!

です!

$50 off if it gets 10 people. I'd have bitten this if I live in US and haven't committed to other things yet.

僕もです。More of the latter for me. Especially with the cousins the Deltas coming soon..

Came here to read about the DN-2000j and ended up ordering the FLC8. Thanks for pointing it out.
