DUNU DN-2000J -- More Than Evolution?

A DUNU DN-2000J/AKG K3003 comparison would be highly interesting!

I can confirm for you the mid-range on 2000J is more vivid than the original, quite a bit more. It contains more bite and detail, the resolution sounds higher and its slightly brighter. Most importantly that veil or subdued sound is now lifted. I don't know who's been reading though this was definitely changed. To some extent its almost opposite of DN-2000 mid-range. but still manages to retain a 'touch' of smoothness which is quite nice. Quite an amount of soundstage width going on here and I'm using DX90. That's all for now, I don't want to get too expressive atm.

The midrange veil clear up is something nice :-)

Definitely, I found DN-2000 a skillful IEM in several ways but never dismissed that soft mid-range. Despite 2000's positive upsides  (which it has many) the way I perceived the mids was enough for me not to use them. Of course, it was also the first point I listened for on 2000J. This time round I can focus on all the improvements without that previous concern.

I'll pop back in sometime soon though I am impressed straight of the bat.

Very nice review. I didn't want it to happen, but I am now officially lusting over these. Dunu is going to take over the world!

I see you have stroke it lucky once again with a Kinder Surprise egg mate...

Yes! Amazing what I find sometimes under my bed. It's usually several women from the weekend before. But today Dunu earphones!

Strangely enough, when i first saw @Brooko 's photos I had a similar stirring feeling inside as when I see a beautiful lady. Lolol

Excellent review Paul!

So the Sony eartips you mentioned, is it the Sony hybrid with green core?

Btw, agree with you on this:
"my suggestion for an ultimate model would still be detachable tuning filters/nozzles."

Ring tuning is simple, but might be too subtle. I myself using silver ring on my DN-2000.

Hi Bram - thanks.  Yes the Sony Isolation tips are the same as the Hybrids - but they have foam inside the silicone - so they act as a hybrid between foam and silicone.  You get the strength and long wearing of silicone - but the isolation, seal and comfort of foam.

I had to get someone to buy them for me in Japan and send them to NZ.  Expensive but worth it.

This might be a good pic to explain them
