Thank you so much, I was just about to order the DN-2000J until I saw this post! Looks like I'll be waiting for the DK-4001! :)

So, may I ask where you picked up this info, or is it classified?

They'd have to be pretty darn good to beat the DN2KJ - just sayin'

They have 2 more drivers (1 more for mids, 1 more for treble), possibly of the same caliber of the 2000J, so I just can imagine them trumping 2000J. Also a new Titanium dynamic driver will be used. Concerning bass quality, possibly hard to beat 2000J.

In my experience, number of drivers has very little to do with sonic quality.  It really comes doene to implementation and tuning. The Noble Savant is a classic example, as is the new q-Jays.  Both are dual BAs.  Both I'd rate better than most of the triples (and hybrids) I've heard.

You'll probably be waiting for quite a while then.

@Uberclocked - in reply to your rep comment.  The q-Jays are a brand new iteration of their old design.  Review due out in a couple of days

IMO the number of drivers doesn't say much at all, perhaps not even anything. There are several single DD phones that can definitely be described as TOTL. For example, the JVC FX-series, the Sennheiser IE800, etc. I really don't think we can say much about how these new multi driver phones will fare against the 2KJ until we've heard them. They could be better is some aspects, but they could definitely also be worse. Anyway, really great to see DUNU's go-ahead!

Mike

There is absolutely NO correlation between number of drivers and sound quality.

I think it's true to some extent, but only for BAs. A single dynamic Can cover the spectrum just fine, it's just trickier to tune. For BAs, ime, you at least need 4 BAs to cover the whole spectrum and even then that set up will likely require some vent system for bass extension. After 4, I think it just becomes about having a more unique sound.
