I tried Din Tai Fung when I was in Singapore last april. IMHO it's decent, nothing special, not bad though but there are better dumpling to be had in chinese restaurant who served yum-cha.

My wife comes from Trinidad and makes over a dozen types of dumplings. My favorite are about 4" round in diameter and 1/2" thick and are chewy (real al dente).
She also makes little round ones and puts them in soup. Then there's the famous Tobago curried crabs and dumplings!

How can you say "tasted like fart..." when there are so many different varieties of fart. That's such a vague description, I just can't nail down your experience

so true...i see you are a man that is not satisfied with superficial descriptions..and i applaud you for that..
so to clarify...it is the type of fart where the person has had a bowel obstruction and has not been able to pass gas for a month. when the fart finally comes out, it comes out in sharp staccato bursts like a gatling gun alternating between fart and stringy globs of poop. the stringy globs of poop smells like someone put poop in a non-ventilated box and left it to bake all summer long in the desert and now you are the lucky one to open the box....
now...that described one person/one dumpling...imagine eating 8 dumplings which tasted like 8 different people's farts in the described condition...
i hope this somewhat describes the taste of those dumplings..jahn is a very bad man....
however, i cannot explain why i ate 8 of them..
