I recently got a pair of DT880(600 ohm) cans.  I am unable to listen to them for more than an hour without my ears hurting.  I don't listen to them loud and I still get a headache.  I do not consider myself to be a treble sensitive person.  Does it just mean that these cans aren't for me? I really enjoy how they sound but if they give me a headache every time i don't know if i want to keep them.  I've read a few places that the dt880s dont fully burn in until about 400-500 hrs I have about 40-50 hours on mine.  Should I wait for 400 -500 mark. Is the burn-in really that drastic? Thanks for the help

Personally, I've never heard much about the DT880's needing burn in, but ...

I compared the 250 ohm model against the 600 ohm model, and what I heard is reflected here.  The 600 ohm model was brighter than the 250 ohm model:

I ended up keeping the 250 ohm model because of that.  Most people here seem to prefer the 600 ohm model, but I most certainly do not.

Or, you could look for a darker headphone in general, like the Sennheiser HD650.
