Dear head-fiers, i am sorry if this question has been addressed somewhere (i think i spotted it like a month ago while lurking) but i am planning on buying either a dt 770 pro 80 ohm or a dt 150 in the next few days but i am confused when it comes to the dt 770 pro. Online, different retailers have two different versions of the dt 770 pro (80 ohm). One has kind of a dark black casing and just says beyerdynamic and dt 770:

and the other says dt 770 pro:

they are both however being sold as the dt 770 pro, so i guess my question is should i care which one i buy? do they sound the same, or which one sound better? I have searched but i did not find anything and after reading hundreds of threads on head-fi (yes including 50/60/70 page ones) i cannot be bothered to read a lot more

They should just be older and newer versions of the same thing.

My advice, though, is to go with the DT150.  They are easier to amp, sound better, and have a decent midrange.

Yep they are different versions. I wouldn't go for the DT770/80s I feel there are better cans for the price. I found them to have an overpowered, boomy bass with very recessed mids. However, I will say despite these flaws it does very well with gaming and movies. Never heard the DT150 though I've read good things about it.
