Thanks guys! I just hope they ship soon!!
They arrived today! Breaking in now, I remember reading to play them at low volume for a couple of days.

I’d like to find an IEM very trasparent but not harsh with a very good and rich mids, extended and airy Highs.
Bass should be tight, I don’t need a Boomy IEM.

Is FDX1 what I’m looking for?

Depends on priorities, and on what rich mids means...

Transparent and not harsh:
YES

rich mids:
IMO a big, fat YES
Clean, musical, smooth, detailed and with the right amount of damping absolutely not bright.
Vocals are a little foreward and emotional. Rich, I'd say.
If you mean warm, and VERY foreward, then the answer is no though

Tight bass:
Yes. Not as dry and textured as the 16mm EX1000 with a powerful amp, but tight, snappy, rumbling
Really enjoyable and fatigue free IMO

Extended, airy highs
Hmmmm...
The modded FD02 have well extended SMOOTH treble.
In a frequency sweep test I hear a slight peak at 4.5kHz, slight drop, moderatly strong peak at 6.5 and then a trough to the next, quite moderate peak at 10kHz from where it stays flat until my hearing limit of 14.5kHz. So overall a very smooth treble region.
If I compare that with my A&K T8iE, the T8iE has strong peaks at 8kHz and 10kHz, which make it sound sparkly and detailed. The FD02 is more liquid and shimmering.

I have a dilemma now guys. Had two pairs of FDX1, and sent one in for warranty after the pin for the nozzle fell out. Just got the package back, and I now own one FDX1 and one FD01. I had bought two pairs with the intent of selling one, but then started to think, hey, maybe I'll keep the other one, as I didn't know if they'd be made again and I'm absolutely in love with their sound. I'm now curious, however, to see if there's any difference between them (but there goes a percentage of resale value if I do, as they literally sent me a full, BNIB FD01 set). What do I do guys? Lol. (I realize this is one of those "good" problems. I can't begin to explain how indecisive I am though, and this is killing me haha).

I guess it would all hinge on how much you like the FD01/FDX1. I don’t think it would be that difficult to obtain the FD01 again in the future, but if you use the FD01, you probably can sell it used w/o too much loss.

Yeah, I just am seriously in love with the FDX, to the point I was thinking about getting in touch with JVC customer service and telling them "no, they're close but not the same thing" and having an FDX1 as a backup. But honestly, I could probably try them out and do that regardless if I really wanted to. The only reason I'm thinking maybe sell them still is that I've got my eye on the Blessing 2... Ahhh, idk I'm just thinking out loud here haha. Also though, the warranty on these isn't mine. So it might be worth it to sell them and order a set of FDX1 on Drop in my name.. Insurance policy.

Tough choice. I’d probably prefer an FD01 and an FDX1 instead of 2 FDX1s, just for slight variation. But ultimately, I want the Blessing 2, so that’s probably the way I would go.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to keep my eye on the prize with the blessing 2. These FDX1s seem very solidly built (except for the latch pin, which fell out and AMAZINGLY I managed to find and replace with a tiny dot of super glue) so I may have to let go of the FD01 to pursue them. They're supposed to be unreal for the price....

Just received “final E” tips, size All. Guess I got the wrong size cuz fitting them over FDX1 they’re much too tight. I didn’t see that they offer them with a wider axes?
There is only the one size for the core. It is tight, but it fits. You have to do it carefully. I pinch the sides of the tip to hold it, then I place the core around one side of the nozzle. I then slowly and carefully push the tip across to the other side to stretch the core a little, while pushing it down over the nozzle. Once you have it around the whole lip of the nozzle, you just push and twist a little until its secure and even. I‘ll see if I can get pics. Another member accidentally tore the core of the ear tip, but in general, its hard to b/c the Final tips have a strong core structure.

Let‘s see if this helps.

1. Grasp the sides of the ear tip, and place the core only around one side of the nozzle.

2. Slowly and gently push it across and over the opposite edge of the nozzle. This is the challenging part with brand new tips.

3. Gently push and twist the tip until it is secure and even.

Kind of reminds me of the videos of carnivorous snails, when feeding

Just finished my DIY cable for the FD02:

Teflon insulated pure silver. Very dynamic, tight
I can only recommend playing with cables, they make a surprisingly big difference.

Sorry I don't mean to hijack this thread, but my nozzles don't look anything like yours! And I'm getting absolutely no bass.
