Guys I was thinking of buying either a new DAP or new headphones and I wondered, already owning the FDX1s, could a DAP like the M0 Pro or Fiio M11s or Shanling M3 Ultra fix the shouty aspect of the FDX1?

Alternately you could consider a small DAC/amp device that would work in-between your DAP and IEMs. Although rhis route isn't for folks who like to have their setups simple (one DAP+IEMs/cans and that's it), it's something worth at least taking a look into.

Have you experimented with EQ and DSP effects, different eartip bore diameters/insertion depths and/or non-destructive modding?
(IIRC FDX1 comes with one empty nozzle like FD01? If you internet search for james4444's original fd01 mod, you could try rolling up a longer filter, etc...)

I no longer have my FD01, but from what I can remember using it across multiple sources, while there may have been subtle differences in 'technicalities', no significant alterations in loudness at any particular frequency (such as upper midrange frequencies, IIRC that's the region prone to "shout"?).

It's possible to try an endless assortment daps dacs and amps and yet not find something that "solves" FDX1, wheras if you're dissatisfied with FDx1 even after trying EQ etc... then maybe it's better to find a headphone that better suits your preferences (plus eq experimentation may help with finding that headphone).

Guys, I know this is old thread, but can you recommend some good balanced cable for this beauty? I'd like to have one more or less look like original in terms of shape and softness. Many aftermarket cables I see is kinda stiff.
