I find the highs too piercing

Yup.  I EQ them like this (SR325is):

That's with a -3 dB reduction.  I use anywhere from -0.5 dB to -4 dB reduction depending on how I'm feeling.  -3 dB is what sounds most neutralish (though still Grado) to me.

I'm probably the only one here who can complain about the SR325is sounding veiled.

Dang, you do a lot of polls.

I don't like to EQ my Grado.  I like their sound signature or I wouldn't have wanted them.  They're the ones I like the most for playing guitar as well.

Maybe the highs aren't piercing so much as that's the scream it's making from the paint job you did to them

No EQ on my 325is.

Yes.  -3dB at 8kHz for all of the SR80i through SR225i and the MS2i too, all with comfies too.

-1 dB at 62 Hz, 125Hz, and 8kHz for the HF2's, also with comfies.  Otherwise, they are all too bright IMO.

i never eq them either. i prefer a balanced sound. but sometimes i set my ipod to "treble booster" to make them sound louder on my ipod so that i can hear the music better.

Rather than EQ, I switch pads.  For portable amps and iphone 4, I used flat pads.  For desktop amp, I use bowls.
