I sometimes slip into an "Australian" mode and use some 'Strain words.

Too right. She's right. Struth. Cheers mate.

They're fun words. I'll pick up any word that seems useful. Lots of slang is useful because they describe the current vibe sussinctly. (Note the word "vibe".)

I use a certain 'F' word like a comma.

I've cut down on my 'F word' usage because I'm beginning to find it quite unnecessary, vulgar and just not cool. It's just uncultured to swear at everything IMO. This is not to say that I don't swear at all (believe me I do!), it's just that I try and be more selective. When I'm on the bus around town, I always hear these chavs swearing continuously. There isn't a single sentence that's clean and these guys are in their mid teens to mid twenties. To me, that's just unsophisticated, unrefined, totally useless to ones' vocabulary and very low class. One does really wonder what their parents have done, or haven't done. Do swear, but do so with a bit of restraint. It gets a bit dull after awhile and loses its punch. Some people I've come across use swear words extremely effectively and I really don't mind because it injects a bit of spark into a statement.

Slang is different. Slang is not swearing, but that's obvious isn't it

A word only has as much power as you, the interpreter, give it.

If you mean non-standard english, yeah. It's too uptight using proper english all the time

yup, when we figure out what standard english is... then we can talk. im sure that everyone here using his/her standard english would not be understood by everyone else in this forum. it just does not exist.
