DIY Earbuds

3 day delivery to Japan of a shell from Chitty's Store. That's a new record for me. Ordered March 25, arrived March 28.

I think it was because they felt guilty about the first time I ordered the same shell from that store a few months ago. As in 2 weeks after I ordered them, I ordered some more parts from the same store and the second shipment came first.

Well, it's a win this time :p

You are lucky, for my last order (not buds related) I waited 80 days .
Last week I ordered some headphones parts and I began to pray that they would arrive at least in a month :deadhorse:

print another 3D shell, all of it has basstube/bassport to enhance sub bass region.

I'll also put out my smallest earbuds. Just a copy of MDR-E282 with bass tube. :)

That looks like it fits perfectly over the ear. I'd love to try it. What about hanging down? It looks like it would get pulled out of alignment by a tug on the cable, but how do you find it?

Hey guys, I've really fallen in love with the versatility of the 130ohm Very drivers in my builds. I've been looking for a high impedance (preferably 600ohms, but certainly a minimum of 300) driver with similar characteristics to implement in a new DIY build. I've tried the 600ohm Berys (also a great driver), but I find them to be much more clinical sounding and they haven't proven to be able to excel at the same range of tunings as the 130s. Does anyone have any suggestions that might fit the bill? If so I'd love to hear from you.

I only have maybe a dozen builds under my belt at this point so I'm hoping some of you more experienced guys have come across a suitable driver in your building journey. Also, thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. I have learned a ton from reading all the knowledge shared here and I'm forever grateful to you all. 👍😎

Yup, because the driver too small (14.2mm), if use straight down will easily get pulled down.
but it doesn't come out of the ear, it just changes the seal in the ear which results in reduced bass. but if you use it over ear, it won't be easily pulled out of your ear easily.

It's a different story if I use a larger driver (15.4mm), even though I use straight down, it doesn't pull out of my ear easily.

You can try 300 Ohm PET (one of the recent favorites of DIYers and the same driver being used in TGXEars Serratus) and also 500 Ohm Beryllium. There are some sellers, like Huayunxin, where you can ask for higher-impedance versions of the same driver.

The thing I noticed experimenting with higher impedance drivers is that they're trickier to tune. Is there a particular reason why you need a high-impedance driver? Just curious. O3O

I have a couple pairs of the 300ohm PET drivers in my parts chest at home so I'll definitely have to give them a shot. I don't find them to be particularly similar to the 130 Berys, but that's based upon using them in one of my earliest builds so maybe I'm remembering wrong. I also have some 500ohm Berys on their way with the order I placed last week so it's nice to hear that they might be similar.

I want high some high impedance drivers because I'm doing this build specifically to create a pair of buds to run off my Bottle head Crack w/ Speedball which is an OTL Tube amp. I have found that lower impedance buds/drivers just don't sound their best through the BHC which is to be expected for an OTL t7be design.

Thanks for the advice. I legit appreciate it. 👍😎
