Did Sennheiser just reveal the Orpheus successor?

Given the comment you made hear I guess you have never heard the original Orpheus?

I'm not aware anyone outside of sennhieser have heard the new version either - so how can you make such a sweeping statement

mmm... yeah it is valid. You can get a 007mk1, 009, or hd800 rig for around $10k that will beat the pants off this thing sound wise ........

I've posted my exhaustive review of this new system here.  It details the all the sonic attributes of the headphones, DAC and amp individually.  It also contrasts them with every other pair of headphones available.

All that's left is for me to actually hear a pair.

Panzerholz is Armorwood in English. It is wooden multy layer panels that are shooting resistant. The thicker, the more resistant.
And no, Sennheiser is no weapon manufacturer, only sound recording and reproduction devices. Founded after WW2 was over.

Mmm.....just out of curiosity: was the original Orpheus sold in regular channels or direct only (from Sennheiser)? Was there a reservation system or were the 300 units distributed by territory? Was it by lottery? How were the units allocated? If any member here is an original buyer (first buyer upon product availability), may I ask how you were able to purchase it? Tia.

According to this retailer in the Netherlands, the Orpheus is available for preorder, price on demand, most likely available in November ... Wanna be one of the first, preorder now they claim!

Whats up with the HD650 by the way. On the Senn site the HD600 can still be bought, the HD650 is gone.

On the German website you can still purchase it in the shop.

Ah, different from the Dutch site then. I have a 650 btw. was just wondering why they ditched the 650 and kept the 600.

Guess they've eventually figured the 600's superiority over the 650...

Only kidding!

I've been on the verge of calling my wife 3 times today to bring home either a HD600 or HD700. She's 2 streets away from a dealer I know that has them both in stock. It's closed now so all is safe!

The name is right, I had the same idea about 10 min. earlier but didn't file a trademark:wink:
But your reasoning is of course incorrect:
It's the Marble + Orpheus = Morpheus
Rock on dude.

It's also the name of the guy from the Matrix. Boom

I'm thinking that in ten years after this is released they make another one called the Neo. It will be "the chosen one"
