I think there's the Denon AH-D600 for this. It has less bloated bass according to review so you might enjoy it even more.
But it doesn't have wood on cups.

I should try :)  thanks for your input.

Their built quality is amazing, but if you want to save some money, you can buy the TH600s which are half price, or about what you'd pay for D7100s. They're also superior to the Denons in every way.

+1

I have a pair of Markl modded DENON  LA D-5000 LITE paired with a Burson Conductor i see you own the Fostex TH900 how are they compared to the 5000 is the bass quality and quantity similar and for the asking price a worthwhile upgrade or a different league all together and about the TH600 are they similar sounding to the LA D-5000 LITE.or even better still. Thanks.

The D600 does well with almost all genres while D7100 is slightly more picky due to the treble peak. My $0.02.

I'd love to hear a comparison between Sig DJ/Ed8 with the D7100. Considering they fill similar market slots and cost about the same.

the Ed8 and Sig Dj are on another level. the D71000 can be had for much cheaper and the ultrasones especially the ed8, are rarely discounted that low. ultrasone will be better too.

D600 are better than d7100?! My friend had d600 and i know what they sound like. He upgrade to D7100 because of the sale big price drop and he is realy happy because its huge upgrade in sound. I really hope nobody gonna belive this nonsens that i just read because D7100 outclasses D600 almost in every aspect.
And i hope people will stop reading this post. Top much vendor like talking for my taste.

How ironic.

They should believe it, because it's true, at least from an objective perspective (and the ears of a lot of folks in this thread). The measurements back it up. I'm willing to entertain any proof you have to the contrary.

I have tried the Amperior it's a fun headphone but can't really compare it to the Denon. Denon D7100 triumphs over the Amperior when it comes to soundstage and instrument separation. Denon also has a wonderful build quality as compared to the Amperior. You can't really go and buy the D7000, D5000, D2000. Sennheiser Momentum is a darker more laid back sounding headphone and won't be to everyone's liking. I have heard that many beyerdynamic headphones suffer from channel imbalance issues. There is a very long thread on T1 made by purin on the tesla drivers and channel imbalance. I think people are quick to point out the flaws with D7100 but actually it has many positive attributes.

Off course , the hd25 II 1 (and I guess the similar Amperior) has the narrowest soundstage , I've ever heard to the point of giving claustrophobia.
I  don't highly consider the hd25 II 1. But I  was misled into thinking that the hd25 II  1   is a bass champion, which is not the case (at most they offer a mid bass emphasis , that people like).
Imho my similarly priced srh940 , trumps down the hd25 II  1 in the sound quality department (unfortunately not for built quality).

All headphones I mentioned sound APPRECIABLY BETTER than the disasters that are the muddy mess that the D7100s are and cost substantially less. By your comments, I would assume you haven't heard most of them (or any real top flight headphone). Throw in the fact as mentioned by Magick Man that they also OBJECTIVELY all measure better, it kinda says just how much of a total fail these $1300 headphones really are. Anything more than $200 is way too much IMHO. It is so hard to think of anything positive when Denon has given us such fatally flawed headphones at such crazy pricing.

Honestly folks, save your $ and look elsewhere. Just my two cents...
