So is this the first case of a known different cable? I feel kinda funny because I was going to buy them about 4 weeks ago but then I decided to wait till after my 3 week vacation. Now that was a good choice.

Out of interest do you EQ each and every song differently, or make do with a single setting or ...

I also wondered but i just used the number on the box, bottom side of the box. that might be it.
