Hey guys,
 
I'm in the market to upgrade my crappy bose over-ear headphones. Been looking around a bit, and have come to the conclusion that it's a tossup between the Denon AHD1001 and the Grado SR80is. Is there a better model between the two? I haven't listened to either yet, but have looked at a few reviews, and have found that these two are good cans. My usage would mostly be for travelling as a portable set, so I'd like to know which is more durable.

I've auditioned both side-by-side so I'm not going to comment on which is better, but one thing to consider is that the SR80i leaks a lot of sound because it's an open headphone, while the D1001 has much better isolation because it's closed.

I had both.  I liked the Grado's better.  The Denon's had too much bass for me.  The Grado's were more balanced across the spectrum.
