Denon AH-D7000

Saw you post it's a cross of the lcd-2 and d7ks. May you specify what it means. And apparently, my local store Jaben, received a demo set for the store owners and workers to audition if they wish to bring it in and the people at my local store say it was disappointing. I was utterly confused when compared to the great responses from headfi! Have to check my sources then.

Rev-1.

But even if Rev-2 were brighter, the design is too uncomfortable for me, and I shy away from open cans... (usually).

@myap2328. You may or may not like the D7k treble. I don't find them bright in any way. But I can assure you that you would hate the Beyerdynamic line. I've had DT-770 and DT880 (which I still own), of several different ohms, and they are bright almost to the point of painful for me. And I LIKE bright. Ha!

Agreed. The Beyer T1 wasn't fatiguing, it was ear-piercing to me, thx for the advice though.

@palmfish
That's what others tell me. Therefore, I'm steering away from the d7ks and checking out the th-900 as I am able to audition the th-900, which supposedly is less of a V- shaped sound sig, and hopefully is darker too!

@jibzilla,
Thx for Ur quick answer!

the alpha pads looks supremely comfy from the fotos,
so just tot of pampering my ears, if the size fits the cup,
and there had been no major complaints..eg of echoes etc..
if the isolation improves that would be a plus.

Problem is, pads introduce their own sound characteristics, and it may make the Denons sound worse. It did on the HE-400.

+1

In my experience, the unique shape of the Denon pads really is the key to their sound. The contours (humps) at the front and rear facing portions are key to breaking the seal just the right amount.

I tried HiFiMan velour and leather, as well as the Lawton angle pads and none of them sounded right. My suggestion to anyone hoping to enjoy their D7000 (or 2000/5000) for many years to come is to buy some backup Denon pads from Lawton while he still has some in stock and tuck them away for safekeeping.

I disagree with the pad comment. On my d5000's i liked the j$'s a lot better. And on palmfish's old d7000 i like the angle pads. To me it makes the bass sound cleaner

I am just wondering if any differences between AH-D7000 and normal D7000. Anyone could tell me about this? I want to buy a D7000, so any suggestion for amp that pair with D7000 is good too. Thank you

Same headphone. You don't hear the Audio Technica line being constantly labeled with the full name, like the ATH-AD700. It's the AD700. Unless the end has been messed with (AD700X), you're fine.

I feel the same way about the TH-900 as palmfish does.  Great headphones.  But I still enjoy my D7000s, not selling them at all.

Waiting for the LCD-closed backs.  I just hope they don't sound like the LCD-2.2.  I also want to try or own the JVC HP-DX1000s
