I love UPS. They just delivered my d7000's 3 hours before I expected them. Now, to burn them in.......

I just auditioned 800 and thought AMAZING in the first few minutes - after perhaps 15 minutes I realised fatigue is kicking in hard. I cannot audition D7000 - must be ordered in. I own hd650 and K701 - I LOVE the 650 with tubes. The 701 also gets fatiguing after a while - but not as quick as with the HD800 - the store had 701 for me to compare and, after the fatigue from the top end of the 800, going to the 701 was a relief, It sounded warmer. BUT I always felt the 701 was stone cold precise - not warm. The 650 sound is what I crave. How much of an improvement is the D7000 over the 650. The reason I consider is that I have Shure SE530 and they are the bass champions to me - I want to merge the 650 with bass of SE530 = D7000? Any owners of both 650 and D7000 in particular? Thanks. |

If the D2000 is anything to go by then it is likely there is no "upgrade" option for my preferences. Tell me it isn't so. |

The first time with stock cable and SAA Equinox cable both single ended. The second time with Silver Dragon single ended and RAL balanced cable. Both time I thought they sounded good but borring compared to the D7000 (which by the way is far superior to the D2000 and better than the D5000 IMO). Now I own the HD800 and I like them a lot better than the HD650 even using thier stock single ended cable. They are in a burning process for the balanced DHC Complement cable. The HD800 and the D7000 are totally differnt animals that complement each other. I am keeping both. By the way I listen to the K701 with a Raptor amp in a friend's home and i did not like the K701 at all. The sounded to thin to me. |
