Is it really piano black, or just highly polished dark mahogany?

I found a seller in Ebay that had 4 units as pre-order sell for $699. He is Ebay Power Seller with 100% feedback since 2002 and offering Paypal Buyers Protection.
After talking to him on the phone I decided to pull the trigger and placed my order thorugh Paypal and credit card for extra protection (just in case). They will be drop shipped from a distributor within the next 2 weeks.

I guess my moded D5000 will go out to the market soon.....

Don't jump the gun, mm. I bought the D5000's originally b/c of all the hype surrounding them. Had I not stumbled upon Markl's mods and completed them, chances are the Denon's would have gone back, or up for sale in the forum. They just weren't all that on they're own. I modded them 4 days after owning them!

The price variation is illogical to me. There must be reasons for audiocubes to sell it at such a high price. I hope Buy.com would ship to the Middle East.
I really can't wait to have these. All the feedback has been very positive so far.

I think so far one ore two people have heard these and reported back, I anticipate within the coming month we will be getting allot more impressions

. As for the price it is kind of odd, it seems that its experiencing the trends that its smaller brothers are experiencing before it has even launched.

I had a chance to listen to the D7000 briefly at the Helsinki Hifi show over the weekend in less than optimal conditions. The set-up was quite bazar: a Denon av-receiver as source (connected by network cable to something) and Lehmann Black Cube Linear as the amp. There was a lot of background noise in the room too. Overall, I was not totally impressed given the 1000 EUR asking price in Finland. The first thing I noticed was the bass and mid-range warmth, which gave the phones a somewhat "headphony" sound, pardon the pun. They didn't disappear at all in the same way as say a W5000. Resolution didn't seem particularly outstanding. It's quite likely that with a better source and quieter environment I might have had a very different impression though.
