This is interesting. Did you take pix during your operation showing what the foam looks like; placement of it and so on? Thanks.

I basically used Dougeefresh's pictures verbatim. I'd really encourage people just to try it. Very easy and simple to do, with almost no risk of damage.

UPS just dropped mine off. Ordered from EE on 2-17,  $590 shipped. If they're not brand new they've got some sort of packing wizard working there. Can't wait to try them.

Ditto.  Mine came in today -- IMO the only open box was the one used for shipping.

These are BNIB, without a doubt.

Have you tried changing the amount of padding to create an angle with the drivers and your ears? Might be something i play with in a bit here

I didn't want to mess with the angle as the pads themselves are angled.
I did try one layer (1/8") but that didn't have much effect.
I have not tried more than two layers just because I didn't want to push the edge (no pun intended) too much by messing with the driver distance. I love how they sound with two layers but if you do try more layers please report back how it is.

Even without much burn in, these 'phones have a very speaker like quality, like a scaled down version of the big boys -- and the big boys have a lot going for them. How can something so small (and closed) sound so damn big and wide? Good stuff! I am now thinking full tilt boogie L7000.  Any experiences with L7000's would be appreciated.

The slick fit and finish on the D7000's puts most speakers to shame.  Very much worth the money at average street price.

EDIT:  I am getting best results from my Meier Concerto.  Really good match with these 'phones.

I bet you are! I did too.
The D7k love good solid state.

Does anybody know the part number for the D7000 driver assembly?

So, I ordered one of these for the heck of it, 50 ohm flavor, just wondering how it changes the sound or capabilities. Who else has tried this?

Actually, I was buying it for some VS-R03 IEMs I just ordered, but then it occurred to me that it might be interesting with my D7000s.

From my understanding, those resistors ADD impedance going to your headphones, making the damping factor even WORSE for your low ohm Denons.

So let's say you have an amp with a 2 ohm output impedance, you'll now have a 77 ohm output impedance going to the 25ohm D7000.

Like the Fiio E9 has a 43ohm output (resistors added on the 3.5mm jack), and a 10ohm on the 6.3mm.

The 43ohm out sounds horrible compared to the 10ohm out. All that extra impedance does is give you more play on the volume knob at the expense of audio fidelity.

I recall someone ages ago with D7000s say they hated them with a 75ohm resistor... so... I think you won't be pleased by the outcome.

I have my couple days old D7000 and someway they're good.  I like them better for classical music than my LCD-2.2.  But LCD pretty much wins on all other genre.  One thing i like them best is the comfort.  Ohh man this cans are the best, lots better than LCD, HD650 and Beyer DT990.  How long you guys think it need in order to properly break them in?  I have more or less 100-125 hours of playing time with this.

It would depend a little on how much current your amp can push, right?  That's what the efficient Denons need.  If you can push the current with the higher impedance in place you might still have a satisfactory result.
