Hopefully, someone will answer who's heard a whole lot of amps with them.  I haven't but everything I have works very well.  Tomorrow I'll find out how well they work with a Ming Da EL84 type amp.

Burson HA 160 amp, I'm guessing the 160D would also sound just as good

It really depends what you use to drive them with (HD600).  They can sound "meh" if not given enough power and voltage swing.  If you do...they really give my D7000 a run for their money.

The Denon's are very easy to drive and will sound "decent" out of an iPod which is not something I can say of the HD600.  Granted both sound much better with a proper amp/dac. :)

I think there is room for both as they compliment each other.

I personally found the HD600 dull.

Actually, the HA160D is slightly better than the HA160.  It is a little more refine and the gain is a little lower for the low impedance phones like D7000.

Thats cool. I just know the Burson is one hell of  an amp, I'm sure the combo is very good.  I wish I had the money to buy one for my denons and LCD 2's. I also heard the concerto was another great match with the denons.

Heh, heh... No actually I really liked the HD600. I thought their overall sound was very sweet and well, rich, but the roll-off in the highs was the final deal breaker (and I gots boatloads of wonderous power). Too bad, as I liked their fit too.
But there isn't much of a comparison for me, yes they are much more expensive, but the D7k are worth every penny more. Their highs are just so glorious, the deep, impactful bass... comfort, and a 'slight' increase in isolation... brilliant.
