Not directly, but I have heard both, and they are worlds apart. The W5000 is all treble and no bass, especially when compared to the D7000. The W5000 might be my least favorite "high-end" headphone of all time.

Has anyone run these with portable amps like the shadow/alo rx/etc? I'm picking up a pico slim soon, and wondering if other portable amps were able to drive these well. I know the pico dac/amp would be enough, but i think its 2x the power of the slim. D7000 are low impedance/high sensitivity so i just wanted to be sure

Try J&R, they are in stock again. You have to call and negotiate your best price. I'll be getting mine on Friday.

are these phones really bassy even if the music (e.g. diana krall or maybe michael bolton and etc) doesn't have much bass in it? I am getting the impression that it seems these phones has "bass boost" on all the time?

thanks again

Think of these headphones as a full-range speaker system. When you need bass, you have it. If the songs have no bass, the headphones won't magically play those notes.
