Denon AH-7200

FWIW when I switched the D9200 cable with the D7200 cable, I had the definite impression the D9200 sounded better (less treble bite but no less resolution) with the D7200 cable and vice versa, the D7200 sounded slightly different with the D9200 cables (more treble definition). So I would use silver plated copper cable with the D7200 and pure copper for the D9200.

Maybe it's the placebo effect of the change itself plays a part, but check it out if you can.

IMHO one of the best silver plated copper headphone cables (and also the pure copper cables) are made by Stax.
One could get replacement cables for Stax and modify the terminations. However, it's quite heavy and long cable - though one could cut off 2-3 strands and keep only 4-3. Still, for that price I guess one could get the D9200 cables or 3rd party silver plated copper cables directly.
Personally I prefer the Stax pure copper cables (e.g. Stax SRE-725) over the silver plated ones (e.g. Stax SRE-925s) and they are more than twice cheaper. Though for the D7200 you might want the SRE-925s.
I am sure when it comes to cables, people will have dozens of choices and preferences, the ones above are just mine, YMMV.

the denon d7200 manual is written:

Ultra-high-quality connectionA detachable 7N-purity copper cable, made in Japan to Denon’s exacting specification, ensure the best possible signal transmis-sion – it’s fitted with a durable machine-cut metal plug with an ornamental copper ring.

Denon d7200 has copper cable. I should choose a copper cable from OIDIO.

I wanted to try my 7200's balanced from my Oppo HA1 so made my own cable with Van Damme SPOFC Starquad covered with Nylon Multifilament. Been using VAN Damme for lots cables over the years and it is very, very good. Not just good quality but it's reasonably priced also.

Hi everybody, has anyone compared the 7200's with top IEM like CA Solaris? Can these offer more in terms of SQ? Just pondering buying over-ear headphones and in doubt whether I gain anything if I already have decent IEM. Thanks!

^I strongly recommend you go out and check some fullsize cans. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the Denon but you will get a better feel for how over-ears fit you.
Personally I feel iems and fullsize cans are almost impossible to compare. The different sensation and sonic presentation of either are so far from the other.
I own the D7200 though and feel it is a far more rewarding listening experience than any iem I’ve ever tried amd that goes for the AF1120, SE846, FA7, IE800 as well as a dozen others...but again it’s to do with the presentation, the grander soundstage as well as the added comfort of not having something stuck in my ears.

My 7200's just arrived! I already have the D2000's (owned for about 8-9 years) and MM400's (owned for a couple years), really like the former a lot.

Initial impressions of the D7200's are they are a touch muddy. I found reducing 125hz by 1db helps quite a lot, but has any one else felt this and any recommendations? Note I'm on a pretty simple set up right now as traveling for work, basically driving directly from a Galaxy S8 and using the eq on the google Play Music app.

I just tried my HifiMan 400i cable and the plugs do not fit the D7200

Thanks man. Cancelled this and saw another one from the same company basically identical, but guaranteed to work with the 7200:

Part of what I'm getting at though is just whether I should buy into expensive cables or whether it's part snake oil? Do I need to buy the bayerdynamic (T1/T5) cable to avoid degrading the sound quality?

Hi, all. Can you guys recommend a short (maybe 1.2m) replacement cable for the D7200 that ends with 3.5mm and where It can be bought. I find the stock cable to long for portable use. Thanks.
