Denon AH-7200

Well The FOSTEX HP 4A-BL looks like a solid amp/dac based on some reviews I have read, and I think I will buy it.
Just one more question,
I read about balanced headphone and some people said that its not worth it with some headphones ?
Is a balance cable worth it (better sound, more sound stage, deep tight bass, less noise ..etc.) or not worth it ? at least in my case (D7200 + FOSTEX HP 4A-BL) ?

It’s nonsense to think that balanced will give you any benefit in absolute terms. It all depends if an amp has been specifically designed to be optimal if run balanced or not.
Being balanced in and of itself is pretty insignificant.

In my experience balanced connections always made my dynamic headphones (K7XX, H6 Gen2, HD6XX, D7200) more dynamic (faster). I may be wrong (since I didnt try and care to measure this) but my education suggests that this is caused by higher voltage swing in any given time unit vs single ended. Of course I can imagine amp that would have 3 separate sections with single ended designed to have better capabilities than any single "half side" (for the lack of better word, as english is not my native language) dedicated to balanced.

Then again, I haven't tested all balanced amps out there, just a couple that I owned.

Feel free to burn me ;D

This is the third and last time I’m buying the 7200 (sold it twice).
After years of wondering, comparing etc, I can firmly say it is THE BEST closed back headphone I’ve ever had. What an incredibly musical can !
My quest for closed backs is over. At least until further new offerings.

Have you tried the Sony Z1R?

What amp / dac are you using?
I must confess I have not.
I use many amps and dacs.
A few : NAD51, Geek Pulse infinity, Topping D50, etc

Amps: Cavalli Liquid Carbon, BrYstonBHA-1, and Taurus mkii.

I also enjoy very much : Alpha Prime and Nightowl. Keeping them all.

These HPs are rather easy to drive. I tried them with Teac-UD301, ifi iDAC2, MJ2 and RME ADI-2 DAC and they perform quite good on all of them, very minor differences (in comparison to my other HPs). If you don't need balanced outputs I would try the iDAC2 - it has decent amp for low impedance HPs and very good DAC. If you want balanced outputs from DAC to other amp or powered speakers then consider TEAC products.

If your budged allows I would definitely recommend RME ADI-2 DAC - incredible build and sound quality.

EDIT: This Fostex unit looks quite good on specs, although I haven't tried it.

I love the sub-bass/bass of my D7000 but I find the treble end a bit too much - does the D7200 keep all that great low end goodness but take the edge off the treble? I'm wanting an overhead I can swap cables with to occasionally use balanced out of my ZX300. I tried the MDR-Z7 but the sub bass on some of my favourite tracks didn't have the same impact, so I'm wondering if the D7200 might be the one for me. I'd appreciate any input thanks
