Supra, at least the SPC version, tends to sound a little dull but otherwise doesn't seem noticeably off anywhere. I'd recommend whatever budget Neotech or DH Labs falls in the same price range, but it's still not a bad option for an intro cable.

I am using the regular non-SPC version. I can't remember why that version was recommended to me, but I was originally going to get the SPC version.

I dislike the chaos of power cables of various thicknesses mixed together, so my reference environment is to use 18 AWG.

The supra lorad (which is light blue coated) is extended in the mid-bass direction and the treble is a bit gentler.

The overall impression is gentler and can be louder.
Some amplifiers may find it too warm.

18AWG also sounds good. enjoy the replacement for about 2 weeks.

I'd say that your listening impressions of the LoRad power cord are consistent with mine. My ears seem sensitive to any harshness and the treble with the LoRad in place is not disturbing to me in the least. On the other hand, several power cords that I tried with more aggressive noise reduction seemed to put a veil over the sound of the Pontus which was too far in the other direction for me.

18awg power cables would present a fire risk in the US. Iirc supra lorad power cables are 13awg, which is safe for 15 amp circuits
While you are right, I cannot imagine a DAC doing more than 100W. So should be fine for this application.

On the other hand, I’m surprised to see taking much care about cables, then choosing a fairly high AWG with higher resistance 🤷

We do not see a problem with using pontus ii or headphones.

The 18AWG cable is the same as the "violectric HPAV202" power cable.
Get the manufacturer's sale at Amazon.de.:relaxed:

There is no mention of gold plating or multiple shielding or any other audio description, but it is a very easy cable to handle.

Hi. Using Pontus II with a single ended design like the cayin ha300b , would the rca or xlr be the best option?

I would use the balanced xlr connection. RCA is using only 1/2 of the Pontus circuitry. Enjoy!

Thanks, what power cable and xlr should I look for? Its so many to choose from 🙈

I am cable agnostic, but. I’m sure someone else can recommend choices!

If you want to add a bit more impact and visceralness to the Pontus2 without breaking the bank, the Audioquest NRG Z3 power cable does just that in my setup.

Just curious if anyone using dual AES/EBU digital cables to the Pontus 2 from Hermes? I read somehwere by using dual AES/EBU can achieve max rate of 384khz which is what i2s can do. Would like to hear any feedback on this use case vs i2s.

Certain brands give such proprietary solution (Chord?). Dual sockets on a DDC / DAC and support in firmware for channel aggregation. Do you have dual sockets on Pontus?

It doesn't make much sense having I2S anyway.
