To @HeatFan12, is your DarkVoice ‘stock’ (more or less) or does it have Fitz mod etc? I have been mulling a DV purchase out of curiosity…🤷🏻‍♂️…as though I need another h/p/a 🤪.

Hey j,

Mine has the Fitz mod. Couple weeks after I received it, I sent it to him. He did his thing and sent it back. Never again has a tube hummed in the DV.

They might have corrected that issue as the years passed, but not sure.

Thanks for the tip on the 6BZ8 as a drop in for the 6922! TBH, I haven't gotten around much to tube rolling with the WA2. I just found your posts form 8 years ago on the WA2 tube rolling thread - great resource. I'll definitely have to give these a go. Cheers!

Hey Slade,

Thanks! Cheers!

Back on track!!!

UT!! Where you at?

A sexy Raytheon 5687 on a rainy night in SoFlo! Cheers!!

Ah, the darkvoice will always hold a special place in my heart!

DV did sound great with that specific 5687 tube. Admittedly, it sounded great with a lot of different inputs in my opinion. ARTH2/ECH35/CV1581 probably my favorite input for the DV. Super good, warm, full bodied harmonic distortion for all! Check em' out if you ever get the chance - Dual EL32 -> 6SN7 adapter will work for these.

Those are sort of like the 6F8G/VT99? With the cap?

Yep, cept you will run these in pairs - adapter will strap each to run as a single triode - can find the EL32 to 6SN7 adapter that will work on ebay - also @Deyan could very likely hook you up with an adapter too. Langrex has some great conditioned NIB/NOS Mullard ECH35/CV1347 tubes for quite the bargain IMHO.

Yes, @Deyan has made some adapters for me. Great work.

Back to basics today again. No adapters.

Fitted her with a lovely GE 5-Star 6080 and a Sylvania JAN 6SN7WGTA (brown base).

Cheers!

Honestly - I don't blame anyone who is a true hoarder collector, especially with prices these days. @bcowen was way ahead of his time.

My Melz tubes are going for $350 each on lesser versions.

My new hobby is refurbing older receivers. I am working on a Pioneer today and hope to get into one of these soon.CE1D5266-45C7-49F9-AEF7-4B95FDB87502.jpeg

If I may ask, which ones are these and what was their price when you got them? No triccky question, just curiosity. Some tubes went significantly up in recent two years or so.
