You can always find them on Direct Connect!

Is this MP3 site...............do you have any Graveland now?

I am tempted to try ELEND again at The End since they have some reissues with bonus tracks available. When I tried the 1st album long ago I didn't really like it..........but it was different and daring. The middle albums are supposed to be better so might give it a whirl. I think Nacher has been really high on newest album by them "wind devouring men"

Nacher forgive me...........I ordered newest IN FLAMES also

I must give some overdue praise to Morten Veland, his new album:

SIRENIA - Elixir for Existence

is a noticeable improvement over first album and closes the wide gap between it and the two masterworks he did when with TRISTANIA:
-widows weeds
-beyond the veil

If next album continues path of progress he will return to exaulted godlike status of glory days.

DarkAngel, if you are going to get some Elend, I strongly recommend starting with Winds Devouring Men. The previous albums are quite similar to each other, though their third album, The Umbersum (which is semi-impossible to get nowadays) is the most polished one of the three first albums. However, the five year silence beetween Umbersum and WDM really has changed Elend a lot. The growls are almost gone, and the bias has moved more in the areas of dark orchestra, dark ambient and industrial music, while the previous albums were strictly classical. Of course the classical elements are still there, but they have just been spiced up a lot. I never liked the older Elend albums that much, but for me, WDM is just godlike. The production is top notch and the songs are as dark, depressing and psychotic as they can get, heh.

I suppose Elend has more appeal to fans of dark wave/dark ambient and melancholic classical than metalheads. I just happen to like all the previously mentioned genres, hehe.

For something really different and daring, I still recommend Tenhi. Even though they are purely neofolk/classical band, they have quickly earned a cult status among fininsh metalheads and other fans of dark music, and even have performed in Wacken if I remember correctly. All the lyrics are in finnish, so be warned hehe. The sound is slightly similar to the acoustic Ulver album, though far more advanced and mature. Just check for some reviews of Tenhi. I suppose it's quite hard to find even a single negative one.

And now, something completely different :

After over 40 years, the "Lake Bodom murderer" has been finally caught. Wonder how this will affect the lyrics of Children of Bodom. For those who don't yet know, the event, which Children of Bodom were named after, happened in the sixties and was the most notorious mass murder of the 20th century in Finland, and the murderer was believed never to be found. This has been quite a shocking news around here.

I listened to some ELEND "wind devouring men" sample from website and it does sound a bit different from previous work, reminds me of a darker sounding DEAD CAN DANCE (who I really like) so may have to pick this up.

Also must correct Nacher "umbersun" is 4th album by Elend:
-Leçons de Ténèbres (1994)
-Les Ténèbres du Dehors (1996)
-Weeping Nights (1997)
-The Umbersun (1998)
-Winds Devouring Men (2003)

I didn't consider Weeping Nights as a separate album, as it's just Les Tenebres Du Dehors without growls and with some bonus tracks. Lecons Des Tenebres, Les Tenebres Du Dehors and The Umbersum are done as a trilogy.

The sample song from WDM on prophecy's website definetly sounds like Death Can Dance. I wonder why they picked that song to be the sample song, as it's kind of a interlude and among the most mellow and uninspiring tracks on WDM.

Okay, I finally made an order for some new dark music.

Shadow - S/T
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - A Virgin & A Whore
Aina - Days of Rising Doom

I had to decide between Orphanland or whatever, and these. I already spent money on other CDs here at home.

Hey, my local store has a Opeth DVD. I almost got it, but changed my mind at the last second. Did I make a mistake in not getting it?

That depends upon your feelings towards 'Damnation' as the whole of it is played live. The only non-'Damnation' songs are Harvest, Master’s Apprentice, The Drapery Falls, Deliverance, The Leper Affirmation & A Fair Judgment. These made the purchase worthwhile as it wasn't very expensive. Cheaper than an imported CD.

Of course the sound quality is top-notch. The crowd is polite but definitely itching for the good stuff after a while. If Porcupine Tree's Steve Wilson is of interest the 1hour documentary in the recording studio at the end is fascinating. The guy is brilliant.

I own and really like ETOS - Virgin and a whore, members went on to form group KALMAH (which further drained my wallet), nice melodic dark metal.

PD still reeling from his RADIOHEAD purchase........ha ha

We'll I've found that to get your Cds from The End in a timely fashion is to pay for UPS. When I used the free shipping option before it took 1 week for them to "ship" the order, and another two weks before I received it (going from UT to AZ). When I used the UPS option it shipped within a couple days and I received it a few days later.

at full price will have to pass, extra DVD not much value to me. Previous albums were quite good.

I just got this. A few interesting songs, and a couple of so-so covers. The DVD isn't anything special. This mini-cd was out quite a while ago in Europe, and it is meant to be an introduction to the next CD, "Invisible Circles" which is a concept album. It is already out in Europe.
