I've never compared headphone cables before and I've used a Wireworld 4-pin XLR Nano Platinum Eclipse with my Utopia right from the very beginning which I only purchased because I accumulated enough credits from The Cable Company, so I bought it. Being I've never heard or had any other cable with the Utopia to tell if I could hear any differences, I decided to terminate my 'stock' Utopia cable with a Neutrik 4-pin XLR to compare.

My immediate findings were that the Wireworld cable is much more dynamic, detailed, airy, and clearer sounding than the stock cable by a very distinguishable margin too my ears...and to my surprise! Before this comparison I've always loved the way my Utopia sounded, but didn't realize that the Wireworld played such an important role in the sound. So, after hearing for myself, and now knowing for myself that I can definitely hear the differences between headphone cables, I'm very close (like minutes away) to pull the trigger on the Lazuli Reference after reading nothing but positive impressions about its synergy with the Utopia and comparing both to hear which I prefer.

PS: What does 'FC' stand for in 'Lazuli Reference FC for Focal Utopia Headphones?'

FC stands for FoCal. Probably should have been FU but that sounds a little obscene don't you think :-)
Anyway, whether one can hear the difference in cables is very personal. To one who cannot hear a difference, the cable is worth nothing.
So what is the best cable? It's the one you can return if you can't hear a difference, or just don't like it.
To just pay shipping cost - which is small compare to the investment outlay for a good cable - to find out, is not a bad proposition.
To date, less than 1% of the cables we shipped have been returned. And we refunded the money cheerfully. We only want delighted customers.

So I’m listening to my HEKv2 through the Lazuli Reference cable one last time this morning... I’m shipping my HEKv2 to Hifiman to upgrade the the HEKse! I’m actually not posting to brag, but rather because I’m still just blown away by what time cable does for the listening experience. It’s just amazing. Just for fun I’m comparing it to the stock cable.

Firstthis morning I started with the stock cable and actually had a moment where I honestly thought to myself “damn this sounds awesome, do I need the Lazuli Reference??” Then I plugged in the Lazuli Reference and thought “oh yes, yes I do!” It literally gave me chills the first few seconds listening to the Lazuli cable after the stock one. It reminded me why I love this hobby and listening to music so much. Feels really good feeling like I’ve achieved my end game.

Seriously, I’m get nothing from Dana cable and I know I sound like such a fan boy. I just can’t believe how good it is. The best way I can explain it for those who haven’t heard the Lazuli Reference/HEKv2 combo is it elevates the music in truly every way. Bass has more texture and somehow reaches deeper but is also tighter, the Mids have more pulp and the highs are heavenly. I can really feel the every note. There is greater transparency, which to me means welcomed space between notes, instruments, and an overall realness and depth to the sounds.... essentially like you’re just sitting there listening to live music. The irony is the sound quality is better than in any venue. I know nothing about mixing music on a sound board, but an attempt at an analogy here with this cable is it’s kinda like you just look all the levers on the sound board and simultaneously raised them up, but the result isn’t louder sound, it’s that it added a life-like richness, made it more organic and less digital, and the veil that you didn’t even know was there is completely lifted.

I have always believe that cables make a difference... interconnects, power cables, speaker cables etc. Sometimes it’s a minor, sometimes it’s not better or worse but just different. When I use this cable I can say without any hesitation it’s an exponentially better listening experience and it brings every drop of ability out of the HEKv2.

Ok ok I’m done now. Can’t wait to hear this cable with the HEKse! I’ll post some thoughts once I’ve got the HEKse.

Are you getting the cable reterminated to 3.5mm connectors to fit the HEKse vs the HEKV2's 2.5mm?

Yeah I’m going to. I won’t be able to resist knowing what the Lazuli will do for them. And hopefully I’ll be able to shed some light for others here :)

But I am also kinda hoping the stock cable is better than what came with the HEKv2. I wasn’t a fan of the rubbery feel of them and it’s now apparent that they were lacking in the sound quality department.

All Danacables carry a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects.
It is stated on some of our product manuals but we should post it conspicuously and clearly on our website as well.
Thank you for pointing it out to us.
It will be stated on our website ASAP

How much burn-in does this cable require? I'm considering getting this for my Hifiman HE1000se. I find the treble too bright and a bit fatiguing with my current set-up (Ifi Micro iDSD BL and stock cable) and was wondering would this cable help?

Our cables should sound good right out of the box but do take time breaking it in and you will be rewarded.
At about 50+ hours it will start to open up and after 100+ it will sing!!!!
You will have plenty of time to do so with our 30-day money back guarantee (you pay shipping). If you don't like it for any reasons, send it back.
We only want delighted customers.
