Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread

I just tested this to make sure and I can't force my Diablo to shut down the way that you are reporting under any circumstances.

In this situation I have the volume pot WAAAY too high on a super sub bass heavy track "Post Malone - Wow" and it's in normal gain. I can turn up the volume the whole way and it still doesn't shut off.

Way to high ….. the pots at 1pm.

Take the Noire off your head and wind the pot to the stop !

I see you said you did that …. no answer, is yours a later unit ? Maybe they upgraded the battery ???

I'm not sure. But i've never even heard of what you are describing and I bought my Diablo at it's launch.

Like I said. I can't force my Diablo to turn off at all and I drive a lot of really power hungry headphones from it.
Solid state amplification is fully solved problem, except for people who voluntarily spend money on ifi products, but most people know better than that 😂*

I corrected it, thanks for pointing out the initial logical flaw in my statement
Ridiculous comment with no point other to troll on an otherwise thoughtful and insightful conversation regarding a genuine concern that one user is having with another. Clearly @BS5711 has a bad unit if it's acting the way that it is. To bash a brand because of that is lame.

I'm an unabashed iFi fanboy and never had any problems with any of their gear. Burr Brown Dac chips are warm and musical and the Diablo is easily the best and most powerful transportable in the market. The only other transportable that I'd consider comparable is the Cayin C9.

Repeating that it is fully solved won’t make it any more true.

The battery cannot provide the current required for the amplifier to put out maximum power.
So the same happens when measuring the amp to obtain its maximum power at 13 Ohms impedance. This limitation appears both in the measurement process and in the playback of music.

FTFY

There are engineers all over the world who have been dedicating their careers to solving this problem. Even after each of us on this thread have passed away there will be engineers working on this. To believe it is “fully solved” one would have to be ignorant of the the problems these engineers are trying to solve.

I sold the Stealth because they were perfect for my taste but that bass response was anemic. And i am not a bass head. Not in favour of eq e, expecially with 4k hp. I was wondering how much i would miss with the noire after owning the stealth. Don care about Soundstage but i am very treble sensitive. And stealth had one of the best treble response i have ever listened to.

I hear what you are saying but the problem is that Diablo is not rated at 13 Ohms, the recommended lower limit is 16 Ohms.

Of course ifi response is “outside specifications” ….. understandably of course.

Despite the comments from some here that my unit is faulty, and as I indicated before, the designer if the Diablo told me in a private message that the behaviour in the situation I indicated was no surprise because the battery current capacity was always going to be the limit of power output into a low impedance load.

With high impedance loads my Diablo behaves perfectly normally. HD600 out of SE or balanced can be run at full volume on Turbo without any problem, other than it us unlistenably loud of course !

Any Aeon Noire owners also have Shuoer S12 IEM ?

At a casual listen, just enjoying the music, the S12 sound a lot like the Noire to my ear. 👂

The S12 are a nice IEM compliment to the Noire if you are a fan if the Noire sound. Handy for out and about listening.

Never heard the Stealth to draw a comparison but the Noire certainly have a little added energy in the treble.

Not to the point of being harsh in any way to me but of course YMMV.

I have a pair of Aeon 2 Noire purchased during the initial launch. The rubber outside of the case is peeling off despite just sitting a box. Has this happened to others or maybe I got a early first run issue?

The paint is also coming off the metal gimbals.

This combo was incredible for a flight. Highly recommended.

Yes, I had the paint issue, but not the case problem.

Get in contact with Sue at DCA. They will fix that for you at no cost (they pay return shipping).

How have the ear pads been for you?

I agree. Got both as well. I use the Shuoer S12 with my smartphone. Easy enough to drive and sound remarkable good. I don't use a Equilizer with them.
