Hi Bogino

Just saw your post referencing the comparison of the DAC X9 with the Rein X3

I wonder how long before Rein will release an X4 based on the X10 with no doubt a $2000 price tag
And it will be interesting to see the glowing testimonials ...

When playing 44.1k PCM to DSD128 in Foobar2000:
I found when I set Realtime priority to the process ASIOhost64.exe, playback is smooth also on the shortest latency setting of the XMOS USB driver. It sounds really very well on my 4 years old i5 M520 2.4GHz notebook.

Hello guys, first post here !

I can get this Dac X10 directly from China for very cheap (taobao price), since I have a lot of friends living in China and they can bring it to me.

Members Chodi and Bogi put me on Audio GD as well. So I'm also considering buying a Audio GD NFB 28 instead since it has a headphone amp as well, and from what I heard from members here Audio GD is trustworthy and they have distributors and they give warranty, as you all already know. It will be twice as much comparing to Gustard DAC X10, but I belive it's worth.

My initial intention was buying a new hi quality AD DA solution for my studio (and I was looking at Audient ID 22) for mixing & mastering, and I knew only about few commercial DAC builders like Mytek, Lavry, Behchmark, Antelope, RME etc (I personally wanted to buy Benchmark DAC1 as well) that I could hear about on music production forums, but I was researching about DACs (since I don't really care about the AD side , I belive that listening side is way more important ) and found out about Sabre chips etc and found out about whole new higher end DACs than audio interfaces that people talk about on music production forums, it's "strange" that I don't see any ADC solutions from these Chinese companies, it would be nice if someone could enlighten me if there is some.

I also see that you guys are using Sabre chips based DAC for streaming DSD file material and I don't believe that I will do that. My question is do these DACs stream PMC material as well, since most of the time as a mixing engineer I work with WAV PCM files, and should my DAW's (Cubase & Reaper) use its ASIO driver for streaming with no problems ?

If no, what would you recommend me for streaming PCM files ?

Thanks !

DAC-X10 is DAC only. If you ned an headamp too, Audio-gd products may be the way to go, or you can order Gustard DAC-X10 + Gustard H10 headamp.

Thanks Bogi ! Yes, you already told me that it works a bit better with DSD than PCM as I recall well. I will order one most def. It's worth a try though

The Dirac 2ch virtual adapter fails to map to the ASIO drivers for U10 and U12 (can't be sure about X9 or X10 though)
As much as I prefer ASIO playback, the benefits of ASIO are a joke next to Dirac+anything (DS/KS/WASAPI).
So I use WASAPI.

Hi

I've found a simple low cost Digital Room Correction solution which fits perfectly with Foobar / DACX10 / Audiolab 8200MB / magneplanar 1.7.
Please see http://www.alanjordan.org/DRCDesigner/HelpFrameset.html for a low complexity introduction to DRC. The results are dependent on your room and subwoofer settings but I have found a significant improvement in the tightness and clarity of the bass with increased mid range transparency. But make sure your calibration microphone supports ASIO drivers (use the Blue Microphones Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/ Mic Preamp - US$31 from amazon (see http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EW5YQS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)) for optimum convolver  options.
