Hello, i currently own the ibasso d2 viper and thought my Denon D7000 sounded amazing through them compared to Fiio E5 and no-amp (my only experiences).  However, my D2's need to be fixed so I'm starting to look in to a new amp.  It doesnt' matter if its portable or fullsize, but I'd just like something that sounds great with the D7000's for under $500.  Thanks!

For that price, what comes to mind is the E7/E9 combo. It does justice to the D7000's.

Yulong D100 or Nuforce Icon HDP. I consider former to have a bit higher sound quality, while latter is more compact and versatile, since it has analog input.

UElover, you got the Xperia Ray?? Thats the phone I've been looking at!  I'm considering getting that or iphone 4, or waiting for iphone5 to come out (I'm from USA), I have to pay $400 for a new Xperia ray if I want to get it unlocked.  How do you like it?  How is the size?  anything you dont like?

Hahah yeah I am loving the phone! Was deciding between iPhone 4/5 and Xperia Ray but it is just too aesthetically pleasing and I cannot bear not having one. I got it contracted under my telco so it is very cheap (less than USD100). It has everything I wanted. Its video playback is superb and its sound quality beats that of my Sony X Series DAP. Just get a 32gb micro sd card and you're in for a ride =)

My only complain is that the screen is a little small. Xperia Arc has a bigger screen but I like smaller phones so ray is the one for me. It is extremely compact and I could just slide it into my pocket.

It is one of the few rare phones out there these days that I am totally satisfied with and have no regret not having chosen iPhone.

I don't think it has enough juice to drive the D7000 though but it works wonder with iems. My D7000 should reach me anytime now and I will plug it in to see how it goes.
