Dear Head-Fier's,

As was mentioned earlier, a guy in China is able to put practically any pair of universal fit IEM into custom shells with detacheable cables, including the UE-11 and ES3 ones.
That's supposed to dramatically improve soundstage, fit and sound quality overall, and all that for an incredibly good price.
I should receive my custom TripleFi 10 in about 2 weeks, and then my custom SE530 two weeks later.
I will review them here on Head-Fi once I get them.

EDIT:
I received my Custom Triple.fi 10 Pro a week ago. They have 4 drivers now since a mid driver was added to them. I must say they sound absolutely fantastic. Strong bass, forward mids, bright detailed highs and a very wide soundstage. It's more like listening to a home audio system than to an IEM.
Heaven, that's how I would describe the experience.
I'll post pictures and a review as soon as I can and I'll try to be as objective as possible despite the emotion. Now, let the music fill my ears.
See you soon.

I heard there are some places where they do this in Korea (putting universals in custom mold). In Korea, it isn't so popular but very cheap (I believe around $100-200, maybe less). I look forward to read your review.

The only thing that worries me is when you say "a guy in China".
I might go for this after my Shure warranty runs out. But please post your impressions as soon as you get 'em back!
BTW, what was the price for doing your Shure's?

What's interesting is if you have a broken IEM and the drivers still work then he can do a reshell for you.

How does the procedure work?

  1. You chose the color, material, artwork and cable of your custom shells.
  1. You send your IEM with your ear impressions and you pay.
  1. Then it takes 1-2 weeks and he ships the custom IEM back to you.

Actually it's a company, but it's this guy who's taking care of me.
