I'm patient when there is hope.

Me too :) even though I have the D2+ and the V5HD (both sound very similar), I am looking forward to have the X7. Ihope Cowon will give the X7 a different sound, because the X5 was one of the best sounding, so the successor should really be a successor.

240GB thin (5mm) HDDs should appear this september.
September 2007: thin 80GB, thick 160GB
September 2008: thin 120GB, thick 240GB
September 2009: thin 160GB, thick 320GB (although 320GB is not available with PATA interface)

160gb would do me fine,....or I'd buy a lower capacity Cowon X7 and upgrade the HDD myself,....cheaper in the long run.

It would be nice if they had a common size for the hard drive. This way you could upgrade the hard drive, or put in a flash drive. I would like an expandable memory slot (like the Cowon D2+), but if they had a common hard drive size, I wouldn't mind so much. It would truly be awesome if they had an expandable memory slot that supported SDXC cards.

The harddrives are 1,8", the difference is in the interface, P-ATA or S-ATA.

And, because of the complexity of SATA protocol, only PATA is used in consumer electronics (be it 1.8", 2.5" or 3.5").
HDDs with SATA interface are only used in netbooks/laptops/PCs etc.

From what I have read, the Line-Out on the X5 was worse than the Headphone Out. Hopefully the X7 has a better one.
